Sanctuary City of Boston Protected Over 100 Criminal Illegal Aliens from Deportation in 2022

In Boston, Massachusetts, the pro-sanctuary city government protected over 100 illegal aliens with criminal records from being deported by the federal government last year.

According to Breitbart, a new report from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that, under the orders of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D-Mass.), the city’s sanctuary policy shielded these illegals when federal agents and border authorities tried to have them deported. Boston has been a self-declared “sanctuary city” for illegals since 2014, with city policy officially dictating that city officials will not cooperate with federal agencies on the matter of immigration.

Boston officials at first tried to claim that their sanctuary policy had resulted in just 12 illegals being spared from deportation, but ICE has since disputed that claim with their latest figures.

“When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release serious criminal offenders onto the streets, it undermines ERO’s ability to protect public safety and carry out its mission,” an ICE official told the Boston Herald.

However, the Commissioner of the Boston Police Department, Michael Cox, went to the Herald to continue praising the city’s sanctuary policy, doubling down on the lie that very few illegals were protected.

“The Boston Police Department remains committed to the Boston Trust Act and strengthening relationships with all our communities,” said Cox. “Boston’s immigrant community should feel safe in reporting crime and in proactively engaging with the Boston Police Department.”

Numerous Democrat-run cities across the country began declaring themselves “sanctuaries” in the mid-2010s, out of protest of the deportation of illegal aliens who Democrat politicians view as potential future voters for their party. The trend quickly expanded during the presidency of Donald Trump, who implemented an America First approach to immigration, increasing deportations while reducing the levels of legal and illegal immigration into the country.

However, since taking power, Joe Biden has taken an open-borders approach to immigration, ordering federal officials to not enforce existing immigration law, to release any illegals they catch at the border, and to give the illegals shelter and transportation to destinations of their choice. Biden promised on the campaign trail to give taxpayer-funded benefits to illegals, including free healthcare, free education, and free housing.
