New York City Struggles to Find Housing for over 6,000 Illegals Bused in from Texas

The city of New York is becoming overwhelmed with illegal aliens, as Texas continues sending them by bus directly to the heavily-Democratic city in response to the ongoing open-border policies of the Biden Administration.

As reported by Breitbart, the city government is “overwhelmed,” and currently “struggling” as it now faces over 6,000 illegals with no place to stay upon their arrival.

As per the original reporting by the New York Post, “city officials are struggling to provide a promised intake center and hotel rooms to migrants” that have been transported directly from Texas after crossing the border, to the city that has previously announced its intentions to welcome illegals. “The Department of Homeless Services acknowledged to The Post that it has abandoned its initial plan to operate an intake and processing center dedicated to the recent arrivals alongside a 600-room shelter at the ROW NYC hotel.”

The New York Times adds to this assessment by pointing out that, as the city still waits for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to follow through on plans to rent 5,000 more hotel rooms throughout the city for the illegals, the city has been forced to turn to its homeless shelter system. However, this shelter system is already at maximum capacity with over 4,900 illegals already, which has created a “dire” situation for the city. The Times further noted that, if the current pace of illegal arrivals continues, the city’s homeless shelter population “would nearly double” in the next year, “to almost 60,000, up from the current 31,000.”

The ordeal began when Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) decided that, instead of trying to send illegals back across the border, he would charter state-funded buses to send newly-arrived illegals to a deep-blue city or state. After initially sending a few buses to Washington D.C., Abbott changed his target to New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams (D-N.Y.) had previously mocked his approach to the immigration crisis and said that his city would support illegals.
