Lindsey Graham Says There Will be Riots if Trump is Prosecuted

On Sunday, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said that, if popular former President Donald Trump is prosecuted after the recent FBI raid on his private residence, there will be nationwide riots in response.

The Washington Examiner reports that Graham made his comments during an interview with former Congressman Trey Gowdy on Fox News’ “Sunday Night in America.”

“If there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling the classified information after the Clinton debacle, which you presided over and did [a] hell of a good job, there will be riots in the streets,” said Graham, referencing Gowdy’s tenure in Congress as chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

Graham added that the FBI’s deliberately political targeting of President Trump with a full-scale raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, in the middle of the night and on the orders of Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland, was further proof that there is “no law” in America anymore, and that there now exists a “double standard” between how conservative figures are treated by federal law enforcement, while left-wing figures are allowed to get away with much worse.

“I worry about our country,” Graham warned.

In the immediate aftermath of the raid, the Biden Administration initially justified it by claiming, without evidence, that President Trump had violated the Presidential Records Act by taking official documents with him to Florida when he left the White House in January of 2021. However, after a judge ordered the unsealing of the affidavit that covered the search warrant, it was revealed that the raid was also motivated by a belief that President Trump had somehow violated the Espionage Act, and also committed obstruction of justice; as the affidavit was extremely redacted, no proof was offered to support any of these claims.

One of the few unredacted portions stated that the “government is conducting a criminal investigation concerning the improper removal and storage of classified information in unauthorized spaces, as well as the unlawful concealment or removal of government records.” It later claimed that there is a “probable cause to believe that evidence of obstruction will be found.”

President Trump issued his own statement on his social media platform Truth Social, declaring that “the DOJ and FBI are practicing Election Interference at the highest and most dishonest level our Country has ever seen before, both in the Midterms, and the 2024 Presidential Election.” President Trump is widely expected to seek the presidency again in 2024, which further adds to the likelihood that he was targeted by the Biden Administration in order to hinder a possible future candidacy.
