As dozens of churches, pregnancy centers, and various other pro-life organizations fall victim to domestic terrorist attacks, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is facing widespread criticism over its failure to address this rising trend.
As reported by Just The News, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding that these “violent attacks are recognized by the FBI and are being properly investigated for what they are – cases of abortion-related violent extremism.”
“There have been at least 40 violent attacks on crisis pregnancy centers, religious institutions, and other pro-life entities since the Dobbs leak and before the Court even issued its final opinion,” Grassley continued in his letter. “This violence continues to cause injury, damage to property, and interruption of constitutionally protected worship services all across the nation. In fact, it substantially accelerated last weekend, after the opinion was issued.”
“Current threats from abortion extremists are impending, serious, and dangerous,” Grassley warned.
As Grassley referenced, attacks against pro-life groups and their headquarters accelerated after the leak in early May of a draft of the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which intended to overturn both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Dozens of buildings were vandalized, with some even being firebombed, and with explicitly pro-abortion messages and threats left behind in graffiti. The attacks only worsened leading up to the Supreme Court formally issuing the decision on Friday.
“I applaud Sen. Grassley for his efforts to protect pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and other institutions,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director for the Pro-Life Action League. “It is critical that the FBI thoroughly investigate the rash of attacks on pro-life groups since the Dobbs draft was leaked, which have only intensified since the official ruling came down. The media have largely ignored these attacks, which don’t fit their narrative, but if law enforcement doesn’t step up, vandalism may escalate to physical violence and even homicide.”
“More than 40 pregnancy centers and churches have been attacked in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade,” said Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society. “But there’s been a media blackout on this violence, and pro-abortion politicians refuse to acknowledge it. We expect the Biden administration to do just as much to protect pro-life pregnancy resource centers as it would for abortion facilities.”
The Biden Administration’s silence on the wave of pro-abortion terrorist attacks has widely been understood to be due to Biden and his administration agreeing with the pro-abortion protesters, similarly to how Democrats largely supported the race riots and acts of domestic terrorism carried out by Black Lives Matter and Antifa in the summer of 2020. The White House in recent weeks has been more focused on supporting abortion than on calling out the political violence in response to the decision.
