Texas State Rep to File Legislation Banning Drag Shows For Children

A Texas State Representative announced on Monday that he will introduce a bill to ban drag shows in the presence of minors in the Lone Star State, after shocking videos emerged over the weekend showing small children attending a drag show in Dallas.

“Drag shows are no place for a child,” tweeted Rep. Bryan Slaton, adding:  “I would never take my children to a drag show and I know Speaker Dade Phelan and my Republican colleagues wouldn’t either.”  Slaton said he would be filing legislation to address the issue when the next legislative session begins.

Slaton represents counties near the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where a gay bar held a “Drag the kids to pride” event that was attended by parents of young children.

The scantily clad drag queens gyrated in front of the tots, and invited them to join them on stage. Disturbing video footage showed parents giving their children money to give the transvestites as they writhed in front of them.

Slaton issued the following statement:

“The events of this past weekend were horrifying and show a disturbing trend in which perverted adults are obsessed with sexualizing young children. As a father of two young children, I would never take my children to a drag show and I know Speaker Dade Phelan and the rest of my Republican colleagues wouldn’t either. Protecting our own children isn’t enough, and our responsibility as lawmakers extends to the sexualization that is happening across Texas.”

He added: “I promised my voters that I would stand up for their values and fight to protect Texas kids. I was re-elected on that promise and I intend to keep it by authoring legislation to defend kids from being subjected to drag shows and other inappropriate events. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass this important legislation.”

The event was advertised as a “child friendly” drag show, although signs in the bar read “It’s not gonna lick itself” and “I licked it so it’s mine.”

Police stood in front of the bar to keep the peace, but did nothing to protect the kids who were taken inside the establishment. Conservative activist/comedian Alex Stein, who was denied entry into the venue, challenged the police to do something.

“Why are you guys letting gay guys show their buttholes to children?!” Stein demanded through a bullhorn. “Is that okay? Is that what children need to see? A man in a thong?!”

Stein said in a tweet Sunday that it was the “most evil event I have ever seen in my entire life,” and urged people to “stand up and stop the sexualization of our children before it’s too late.”
