Ron DeSantis Leads Republican Charge Against Biden Regime’s ‘Ministry of Truth’

Republicans hit at the Biden administration’s new Disinformation Governance Board Friday, arguing that it is an “unconstitutional and unamerican” means of crushing dissent.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis led the charge during a press conference Friday, calling the Department of Homeland Security Counter-Disinformation Governance Board a “Ministry of Truth,” and vowing to fight it.

“You cannot have a Ministry of Truth in this country. We’re not going to let Biden get away with this one. So we will be fighting back,” he said. The Republican was  in Willston, Fla. to talk about his administration’s investment of $22 million for infrastructure in Florida.

The recently created disinformation board is being led by Nina Jankowicz, 33, a self-proclaimed “disinformation expert” and Karaoke enthusiast who helped spread the Russia collusion hoax in 2017, and supported the COVID lockdowns in March of 2020. In October of 2020, she called Hunter Biden’s laptop a “product of the Trump campaign.”

“She’s a career left-wing partisan, from her days working at the National Democratic Institute to her Fulbright-Clinton fellowship to her gig at the left-leaning Wilson Center where she routinely did media hits with NPR, CNN, PBS and so on while placing New York Times and Washington Post opeds,” the New York Post opined.

DeSantis said when he first heard about the disinformation board, he thought “it was just a belated April Fool’s joke.”

“What they want to do, is they want to be able to put out false narratives without people being able to speak out and fight back,” the governor said, citing as an example, the Russia collusion hoax, and noting that the regime would prefer to have dissenters of their fake narratives silenced.

“They want to be able to advocate for COVID lockdowns. They want to be able to advocate for school closures—things that are not supported by the evidence—but then when you speak out, they want to stifle dissent,” DeSantis argued. “We reject this bureau in the state of Florida,” he added. “We think it’s essential for Floridians and Americans are able to speak out against false narratives being jammed down our throats by this regime.”

DeSantis pointed out that the person Joe Biden picked to lead the disinformation board has herself “been an advocate for COVID lockdowns,” as well as “put out disinformation about the Hunter Biden tapes, [and] supported Russia collusion conspiracy theories.”

“This is not acceptable, and in Florida, we’re not going to have it,” DeSantis declared. “So let’s get real here, let’s make sure we’re doing things to benefit Floridians and Americans but we’re not going to let Biden get away with this one.”

The governor said that the Biden regime should “talk about issues people actually care about,” and noted, “when you’re not doing well, you have two options: You can try to do better. Or you can try to silence your critics. [The Biden Administration] is doing the latter.”

DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw told American Greatness that the governor “wanted to say a few words about the Ministry of Truth proposal because he has been following the news about it and found it deeply concerning and fundamentally opposed to what America stands for.”

Pushaw added that the DeSantis administration is “closely monitoring for more information on the activities of the new DHS Disinformation Governance Board so that we can take action as needed to protect Floridians from any unconstitutional federal government overreach.”

Jankowicz was brought on to lead the  Disinformation Board the same week billionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter to help restore the platform to its free speech roots.

She has already expressed concern about Musk expanding free speech on social media, arguing that it will be bad for “marginalized communities.”

In a Tweet on Thursday, Musk called the creation of a new “disinformation” board “discomforting.”

In a cringey video making the rounds,  Jankowicz sang about “misinformation” to the tune of Mary Poppins song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
Information laundering is really quite ferocious. It’s when a huckster takes some lies and makes them sound precocious.

By saying them in Congress or a mainstream outlet, so disinformation’s origins are slightly less atrocious.

It’s how you hide a little, hide a little, little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little lie, it’s how you hide a little, little, little lie.

When Rudy Giuliani shared bad intel from Ukraine. Or when TikTok influencers say Covid can’t cause pain. They’re laundering disinfo and we really should take note. And not support their lies with our wallet, voice or vote – oh!

Other elected Republicans are also speaking out against the regime’s disinformation board.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is demanding that the White House “dissolve this monstrosity” immediately, arguing that it will only be used to monitor Americans’ free speech.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said Friday he will introduce legislation to have the board defunded.

“The Federal Government has no business creating a Ministry of Truth,” he wrote on Twitter. “The Department of Homeland Security’s “Disinformation Board” is unconstitutional and unamerican, and I’ll be introducing a bill to defund it.”

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said the regime’s “Ministry of Truth” goes against everything our country stands for.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also called on the Biden Regime to abandon it’s “Ministry of Truth.”

Rep. Thomas Massie said the “Disinformation Board” will ne tasked with spreading disinformation.

Rep. Troy Nehl’s (R-Texas) noted that the Regime didn’t seem to need a disinformation czar until Musk bought Twitter, “threatening their control of the narrative.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted that the new board is Stalin/Maoist level government malfeasance, and “the hill to die on.”

Rep. Jim Jordan suggested that the regime’s new disinformation czar investigate some recent high-profile cases of disinformation.

Update:

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the Regime’s pick of a spreader of disinformation as the new disinformation czar, claiming that she has “extensive qualifications” for the job.

“She’s an expert on online disinformation” who’s worked at the Wilson Center, “testified before Congress” and in Europe, and a Fulbright scholar,” Psaki said, going on to claim that the board is a continuation of a DHS program that was set up in 2020 under Trump.

Update:

Republicans are preparing to go to war against the regime over Biden’s Ministry of Truth, according to conservative podcaster Benny Johnson:
