Psaki: Peter Doocy Forced by Fox To Ask Questions That Make Him ‘Sound Like a Stupid Son of a Bitch’

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Thursday that Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy sometimes sound like a “stupid son of a bitch” because the network gives him stupid questions to ask. [A Fox News spokesperson disputed Psaki’s contention in an statement to American Greatness Friday evening. See update below.]

She made the comments during a live recording of the Pod Save America podcast, which is hosted by her old pals from the Obama White House, Jon Favreau, Daniel Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor in Washington D.C.

On January 24, Joe Biden was caught on a hot mic calling Doocy “a stupid son of a bitch” after the Fox News reporter asked him if inflation would be a “political liability in the midterms.” Doocy told Fox News host Sean Hannity later that night that Biden had called him afterwards and said, “it’s nothing personal pal.”

Doocy said he told Biden that he would always try to ask something that is different from what everyone else is asking, and that Biden had replied, “you’ve got to.” Doocy added, “that’s a quote from the president so I’ll keep doing it.”

Joe Biden’s approval rating has sunk to 33 percent in the latest Quinnipiac poll, with only 26 percent of Hispanics approving of his job performance. In the past 14-plus months, he has presided over a series of self-inflicted disasters and failures, including his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, the worsening COVID pandemic that he promised to end, inflation, high gas prices, the border crisis, executive overreach, his increasingly authoritarian behavior, and support for divisive policies like teaching transgender propaganda to grade school students. Rather than change course, the White House has doubled down on all of its destructive and unpopular policies.

Doocy is the only journalist in the White House briefing room who is willing to challenge Psaki on a day-to-day basis about these failing policies, and this has made him a bit of a bete noire to folks on the left.

During the podcast Thursday, one of the hosts said, “we have to talk about Peter Doocy for one second,” drawing laughter and applause from the left-wing audience.

“Is he a stupid son of a bitch or does he just play one on TV?” the host asked Psaki, drawing more laughter and applause.

Psaki did her level best to give an answer that sounded both gracious to Doocy, and pleasing to her liberal audience.

“He works for a network that provides people with questions that, nothing personal to any individual including Peter Doocy, but might make anyone sound like a stupid son of a bitch,” Psaki responded.

“Well handled!” the host exclaimed.

Psaki went on to say something complimentary about Doocy, which she noted might not be popular with the lefty Pod Save America audience.

She said Biden called Doocy to *apologize, and she had watched Fox News’ Hannity that night to see what the reporter would say about it.

Psaki recalled Doocy saying that he and Biden had “a really nice conversation,” and that he was just asking his questions.

“He’s doing his job. So I will say, that was a moment of grace. You don’t have to like everything Peter Doocy says or does, but that was certainly a moment of grace for Peter Doocy,” Psaki said magnanimously.

Pfeiffer chimed in to say, “this is why, before you were the world famous press secretary, people said Jen Psaki is the nicest person in Washington.”

When asked about recent reports that she is planning to leave the White House next month and is in talks with MSNBC for her own show, Psaki replied, “I don’t know the date or anything like that but at some point I’ll be watching from somewhere else.”

*Hannity repeatedly asked Doocy if Biden had in fact apologized, but the reporter demurred, saying only that he had “cleared the air,” “we had a nice call,”  and he appreciated that Biden had taken a couple of minutes to call him.

Update:

A FOX News spokesperson told American Greatness in an email Friday evening that Fox does not dictate the questions Doocy asks during the White House press briefings.

“In his role as White House correspondent, Peter Doocy’s job is to elicit truth from power for the American public. His questions are his own, he is a terrific reporter and we are extremely proud of his work,” the spokesperson said.
