The man who plowed his car into a crowd anti-vax mandate protesters in Winnipeg, Canada, last week, is a radical far-left anarchist punk rocker, Rebel News reported, Monday.
Four people were injured in the attack and rushed to hospital after the car swerved into the crowd.

It is important to note that the protesters, who had gathered to support the ongoing trucker protest in Ottawa, were not blocking the street. Cars were able to get through before the alleged driver of the vehicle, Dave Zegarac, swerved into the crowd.

Zegarac was taken into custody an hour later after a brief struggle with police, according to Rebel News. Authorities are reportedly treating the incident as a hit-and-run, rather than a politically motivated hate crime.
Zegarac has been charged with “four counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a conveyance, two counts of failure to stop after an accident knowing that the driver was reckless, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident times two.”
However, Zegarac — a 43-year-old musician from Winnipeg who describes himself as Indigenous, Serbian and Irish — is the frontman of Canadian punk bands The Brat Attack, Dead Peasants Revolt, The Black Mass Brigade, and Class War Kids.
Zegarac’s Wikipedia page is now deleted, but an archived version is still available which links back to several web pages detailing Zegarac’s politics.
His online bio states that his song lyrics deal primarily with anarchist politics and that he is an outspoken vegan and a long-time anti-racist activist.
According to a Winnipeg Free Press reporter on Twitter, Zegarac is fairly well known punk musician in the area, who was kicked out of the scene seven years ago due to “multiple allegations of sexual assault” against “very young women.”

Winnipeg police told the CBC that Zegarac spoke to officers while being arrested, and that “some comments made by the accused” tended to “suggest this was not specifically about the [vaccine] mandates. ” Police added that Zegarac “wasn’t for or against any of the general views that are floating around this country.”
