Hundreds of New Yorkers, including current and retired teachers, parents and other school staffers, protested against mandatory vaccinations on Monday, carrying hand-made signs and chanting “f—k Joe Biden.”
Two groups of protesters, organized by NY Teachers for Choice, gathered on opposite sides of the Brooklyn Bridge and marched to Foley Square for a “Freedom Rally.”

“Authoritarian segregation is now the official policy of NYC and NYC Schools,” the group said in a post promoting the march.
On Friday 9-10-21, NYC announced that unvaccinated parents can’t enter any public school building in the city as of 9-13-21. No mention at all of how these parents, that make up over 60% of all African American parents, can pick up their children from school. I know PTA moms who have dedicated years of voluntary work to their school communities now COMPLETELY BARRED FROM THEIR CHILD’s SCHOOL!
And let’s not forget the CDC says COVID vaccines do not stop transmission of SARS CoV-2. This is NOT about public health!
Unvaccinated teachers have virtually no options as the arbitration process has made medical and religious exemptions to vaccination a joke that lead to all NYC public school educators completely out of the classroom and eventually out of a job. The UFT has intentionally failed us.
The throng of educators chanted “F—k Joe Biden,” and “you are a pedophile” as they walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, videos posted to Twitter show.

During an appalling speech last week, Biden announced his authoritarian and unconstitutional vaccine mandate requiring employees at companies with over 100 workers to get vaccinated or be tested for the coronavirus on a weekly basis.
In the wake of Biden’s horribly botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, Americans have taken to chanting “F—k Joe Biden” in sports stadiums across the nation. Since his shocking, widely-panned speech on Sept. 9, the slogan has reached new heights of popularity, with the message showing up on hats, tee shirts, and banners. Now, wherever he goes, Biden is greeted by booing Americans determined to send him the profane message.
The NYC protesters on Monday carried signs reading, “Last years heroes, this years unemployed,” “My body, my choice,” and “I call the shots.” Marchers advanced to the Brooklyn Pier, where they continued to chant “f—k Biden.”

“I have lived and worked in this city as a civil servant for 28 years of my life,” retired teacher Amy Carroll told PIX11. “I should be able to make my own health decisions and make a decision that doesn’t affect my employment that doesn’t affect my right to go to a restaurant, or a Broadway play, a museum.”
Her husband, also a retired teacher, said: “I think what they’re doing in America, they’re taking away our rights about all decisions, medical decisions, we’re standing here we’re letting the government take over everything.”
Last month, Mayor de Blasio announced that all Department of Education employees must receive at least one dose of a COVID vaccine by Sept 27.
Wade Willett, a recently retired science teacher, told Pix11 that he submitted his retirement on August 8 because of de Blasio’s mandate. “I had COVID in March of 2020 and I recovered from it, so I felt I’m immune, I’m a science teacher and they said you’re not.”
“I came with a bunch of teachers from a school in Whitestone, Queens,” teacher Alycia Morell told PIX11. “We’re here because of the mandates, some of us are even vaccinated, but we’re fighting the mandate and we don’t want the children to have to be mandated for vaccines — so we’re fighting for everybody not just ourselves.”
Teachers for Choice also held a massive protest last month at City Hall.
In addition to the protests, the group has organized a “walk out week” starting 9-13-21, and says it will file a lawsuit against the city over the vaccine mandate. Teachers for Choice also urges members to leave the UFT and AFT teacher unions.
