The Biden Administration is ready to welcome United Nations inspectors into America. These inspectors aren’t looking for weapons of mass destruction or environmental pollution. They’re on a mission to look for racism.
The U.N. recently established an “international independent expert mechanism” to investigate “systemic racism” throughout the world, particularly with regard to law enforcement. The resolution claimed police in western countries brutally discriminate against people of African-descent and the U.N. must do something about it. A senior U.N. official says this effort and others are needed to “confront the legacies of enslavement.” The U.N. endorsed reparations last month, signaling what the international body has in mind to “solve” systemic racism.
Instead of ignoring this insanity, Secretary of State Antony Blinken rolled out the red carpet for the inspectors. “As a first step, we have reached out to offer an official visit by the U.N. Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism and the U.N. Special Rapporteur on minority issues,” Blinken said. “I also welcome the U.N. Human Rights Council’s adoption today in Geneva of a resolution to address systemic racism against Africans and people of African descent in the context of law enforcement. I look forward to engaging with the new mechanism to advance racial justice and equity.”
To the average American citizen, this is insane. Why would we forsake our national sovereignty to allow international leftists to come in and declare our country a racist hellhole? There’s little doubt what result they will reach. They will interview Black Lives Matter activists and determine our police are the new Klan. They will issue a directive for our country to further neuter police and allow more criminal behavior to go unpunished. The antiracism investigators may even demand America issue reparations to atone for its racist policing.
This all seems quite dumb. Imagine any president of the Cold War inviting U.N. inspectors to condemn America as a racist nightmare. It wouldn’t happen, for many reasons. The whole purpose of the exercise is to make America answer to an assumed higher power of unelected globalist bureaucrats, and to lower our standing on the world stage. But these are all great ideas to those in power now!
Our U.N. ambassador, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, states white supremacy is “weaved” into our founding documents. Just think of what the U.N. inspectors will conclude if our own leaders make these kinds of public statements.
What’s the purpose of submitting America to a racism review from the United Nations? One answer is the stated reason from Blinken. It’s just about advancing “racial justice and equity.” The Biden Administration made “racial equity” its primary guiding principle on foreign policy earlier this year and encouraged embassies across the world to fly the Black Lives Matter flag. BLM ideology is one and the same with the administration’s agenda. It makes sense for them to subject our nation to a thorough racism audit.
But that’s not the only reason. Blinken and others believe that the racism probe will demonstrate America’s superiority to China and challenge the communist state to open itself up to an international review. The U.N, recently published a scathing report on China’s treatment of Uighurs. America believes that by coming clean on its racism, it can shame China. China frequently points to our nation’s alleged racist misdeeds to deflect from their own crimes.
This rationale is completely stupid. China doesn’t care what the international order thinks of its treatment of Uighurs. They know no country or corporation will punish them for it. The ChiComs will only use the U.N.’s racism investigation against America and to further deflect from their own actions. They’re not going to admire our openness to scrutiny. They’re only going to think we’re idiots for inviting such a humiliation.
The Democrats are set on refashioning our entire government along the lines dictated by critical race theory. The U.N. racism inspection helps them achieve their goal. It won’t make our country stronger or freer. It will just divide us even more and strip away more of our liberties. It’s hard to respect a government that insists America is the most racist country on earth. How does that inspire patriotism?
