On Tuesday, a professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy published an op-ed explicitly defending the far-left conspiracy known as Critical Race Theory, and advocating for the subject to be taught all across the military, as reported by Fox News.
The op-ed by Lynne Garcia, an associate professor of political science, was published in the Washington Post under the title of “Why U.S. military academies should teach critical race theory.” In the article, Garcia openly declares that she teaches “critical race theories to our nation’s future military leaders because it is vital that cadets understand the history of the racism that has shaped both foreign and domestic policy.” Garcia provided no evidence to back up her claims that racism built American foreign policy.
Garcia went on to claim that Critical Race Theory “helps students identify the structural racism and inequality that has been endemic in American society,” again with no evidence. “It provides methods for deconstructing oppressive beliefs, policies, and practices to find solutions that will lead to justice.”
She even went so far as to accuse George Washington, the first president and the general who won America’s independence, of being a racist himself. Building off this baseless accusation, she claimed that “racism was ingrained in the system from the beginning, and the military still struggles with these issues.”
Garcia also used the op-ed to defend Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who defended Critical Race Theory in testimony before Congress despite claiming to not know what the theory even was. In that testimony, Milley falsely claimed that “White rage” was the cause of the mostly peaceful protests that took place at the United States Capitol on January 6th.
