Morning Greatness: Kamala’s Office Described as an ‘Abusive Environment’

Good Thursday morning.

Two minutes of hate:

Politico has a hit piece on Kamala Harris’ VP office which could mean a few things. It could be that the Biden people are keeping the Kamala team in check, we all know she’s just counting the days until the Biden mirage collapses and he leaves office to watch “Murder She Wrote” marathons and drink Ensure margaritas. People like to think that DC is divided into to two camps: Republican and Democrats, but that is not accurate. Politics is an industry and within that industry there are different groups of people who profit from the structure in one way or another. This is why Democrats and Republicans hate populism: they don’t profit from a populist oriented structure because it serves the people and not them. This also explains why elected GOP officials don’t actually adjust policy to public sentiment–there’s nothing in it for them.

Within the political industry are cliques: there’s the Obama people, the Clinton people, the Biden people and so on. There can be some overlap but not at the top levels. When a political professional picks their clique, they pick their meal ticket to industry success. Your avatar determines how far you advance professionally. Biden brought his people into the White House in top positions. Harris put her people at top positions in the VP office. You bet those staffers have more influence on executive policy than say, a Klobuchar loyalist. But each clique lobs grenades at the others to increase the likelihood they will be victorious and gain the top hand over the others. Think a Potomac version of “Game of Thrones.” Usually, these cliques are united against the GOP cliques, but they do fight for control among each other and some competing staffer wants to make a move on the chess board against Kamala’s team.

The other reason is that the Politico piece is preempting something worse.

The story describes “a tense and at times dour office atmosphere” around the Veep. We also learn that team “is experiencing low morale, porous lines of communication and diminished trust among aides and senior officials.” The situation is blamed on Kamala’s chief: “Much of the frustration internally is directed at Tina Flournoy, Harris’ chief of staff, a veteran of Democratic politics who began working for her earlier this year.” Sounds like someone wants Flournoy’s job.

“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” said another person with direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”

It sure sounds like a mess over there. Moving along…

On Wednesday, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives voted to create a select witch hunt committee dedicated to investigating the QAnonWhiteSupremacistsRacistMAGA soldiers who attempted to overthrow the United States government with selfie sticks. The vote broke on party lines except for…WAIT FOR IT…WAIT FOR IT…WAIT FOR IT…two Republicans: Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

The Democrats needed to create the select committee because the Senate GOP blocked an independent bipartisan commission. The Democrats need to keep this issue alive because they need to distract from their policy failures, they need to convince the public there is a legitimate violent threat to public safety by crazed Trumpaloos, they need the public to believe they are in danger so the fedgov can expand their power to more efficiently eradicate political opposition to the techno-oligarchy that now runs our country.

The select committee will include eight people selected by Pelosi and five people selected by Frank Luntz roommate, Kevin McCarthy. The Hill wants you to know:

And the panel’s investigation could easily spill into next year while both parties are gearing up for the midterm elections, an outcome that Republicans wanted to avoid with the commission proposal.

So the committee is an important campaign tactic as well. We’ve been here, we’ve seen this with impeachment and the RUSSIA collusion hoax investigations. This is how the government spends your tax dollars.
