On Tuesday, a public meeting of the Loudoun County School District was shut down by school board officials after too many parents spoke out against a proposed pro-transgender bathroom policy, with at least two parents being arrested, as reported by the Daily Caller.
Over 200 parents had signed up for the public comment portion of the meeting, which concerned a new district-wide policy to accommodate so-called “transgender” students’ preferences as far as which bathrooms to use, and which gender pronouns they prefer. The overwhelming majority of parents spoke out against the policy and were critical of the school board. Tensions rose when a far-left parent baselessly claimed that “hate” was “dripping from the followers of Jesus in this room.”
Despite Critical Race Theory not being on the meeting’s agenda, the far-left and anti-White theory was also brought up at several points during the meeting. Former Virginia State Senator Dick Black (R-Va.) criticized Loudoun County schools for teaching this idea, which, among other things, falsely claims that America is an inherently racist nation, and that all White people are automatically racist.
The school board members, growing more intimidated by the overwhelming opposition to their ideas, eventually declared the meeting to be an “unlawful assembly” and called the police. In protest of the board’s sudden decision, many in the crowd burst into a spontaneous rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
When police officers arrived, at least two parents were arrested for refusing to leave. A screenshot from video footage of the incident, posted by the Caller, shows at least six officers surrounding and restraining a single male parent who is already handcuffed.
Loudoun County, in the suburbs of Northern Virginia that lie just across the Potomac River from Washington D.C., is seen as one of the epicenters of efforts by public school officials to indoctrinate students with dangerous far-left ideologies, such as Critical Race Theory and the notion of “transgenderism,” which falsely claims that there are more than two genders, and that a person can change their gender at any given time.
