Jay Bhattacharya, professor of medicine at Stanford, co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, and an opponent of lockdowns, recently observed that the credibility of Dr. Anthony Fauci was “entirely shot.” As calls ring out for investigations and dismissal, Joe Biden proclaims, “I’m very confident in Dr. Fauci.” That makes perfect sense, given the enduring power of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In TDS, as Victor Davis Hanson explains, “everything Trump touched was ridiculed or discredited—regardless of evidence, data, or cogency.” Trump touted the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine, so the proven drug must be bad. Trump claimed the pandemic originated in Wuhan, so that had to be opposed. Trump has criticized Fauci, so Fauci must be praised and retained. Biden has now taken the dynamic to new depths.
President Trump also honored American veterans of the D-Day landings, the largest amphibious invasion in history and a turning point in World War II. This year, on the 77th anniversary, Joe Biden issued no statement on D-Day but did post a video about the 1921 race riot in Tulsa.
President Trump had to contend with deep-state operations such as Crossfire Hurricane, along with the Russia and Ukraine hoaxes. Even so, Trump had the American economy soaring, with employment at record levels. By all appearances, Trump Derangement Syndrome prevents Biden from following suit, although simple ineptitude may play a bigger role. Biden also faces no investigation for the election irregularities obvious to all but the willfully blind.
President Trump negotiated the Abraham Accords, broadening the prospects for peace and prosperity in the Middle East. By contrast, Biden’s moves are a virtual instruction manual on how to start a war. That could also be due to Biden’s severe TDS, but as vice president, Biden supported planeloads of cash to the Islamic Republic of Iran, a major sponsor of terrorism in the world. And Biden also criticized Trump for taking out Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani.
President Trump started construction of a wall on the southern border. The inflow of illegals dropped dramatically on his watch. By the standards of TDS, however, Biden could not allow that to continue and, true to form, illegal entries have ramped up to record-breaking levels. On the other hand, as vice president, Biden proclaimed that illegals were “already Americans,” so the Delaware Democrat long ago effectively opened the border and canceled the rule of law.
In his first run for the presidency in 1988, Biden plagiarized a speech from Neil Kinnock, a British Labour politician heavily embedded with the Soviets, perhaps the worst choice he could have made. As Mark Bowden gently put it in 2010, Joe Biden is “not an intellectual” and in his speeches and writings, “he makes few references to books and learned influences.”
During the recent campaign, Biden proclaimed, “we choose truth over facts,” so he was already operating under the Dictatorship of the Subjunctive Mood (DSM), a national fact-free zone. Biden also told African Americans they “ain’t black” if they didn’t support him, and described the Chinese Communists as “not bad folks,” and “not competition for us.” With all the hagiography now going on—Chris Wallace of Fox News said Biden delivered “the best inaugural address I ever heard”—people may have forgotten how addled Biden really is. For a guy like that, Anthony Fauci is the perfect match.
Anthony Fauci earned a medical degree in 1966 but his bio shows no advanced degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry. In 1968, to avoid serving in American military hospitals in Vietnam, Fauci took a cushy job with the National Institutes of Health as one of their “yellow berets.”
As Michael Fumento showed in The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, Fauci was hopelessly wrong on the extent of AIDS in America. Even so, Fauci continued as head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). In that role, he channeled U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) which conducts gain-of-function research that makes viruses more deadly and transmissible.
Fauci was the force behind the lockdowns that wrecked the Trump economy and caused so much destruction across the nation. Even so, Fauci shows little if any sympathy for embattled Americans, never owns up to mistakes, and never has to face the voters. When Fauci’s reign of error is most evident, and the damage he caused still surging, Joe Biden proclaims he’s “very confident” in the NIAID boss. So Fauci’s white coat supremacy marches on.
Call it the “Joey and Tony Show,” produced by Pandemic Productions, brought to you by Trump Derangement Syndrome, and running daily on the DSM Network. More exciting episodes coming up this summer.
