Amidst the far-left push to eliminate the concept of gender, several leftist politicians and organizations referred to mothers as “birthing people” as they commemorated Mother’s Day, according to Fox News.
The most prominent Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Joe Biden correctly referred to women as mothers, with Pelosi referring to mothers as “our Guardian Angels,” and the White House declaring that “Moms have always built, shaped, led, and sustained this country.”
But far-left Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-Mo.) referred to them by the bizarre “gender-neutral” term in her statement, where she claimed, without evidence, that “every day, black birthing people and our babies die because our doctors don’t believe our pain.” She goes on to add, without elaborating, that “my children almost became a statistic. I almost became a statistic…Hear us. Believe us. Because for so long, nobody has.”
The far-left abortion group NARAL – National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws – even explained its reasoning for using the same term as Bush in their statement. The group claims that “when we talk about birthing people, we’re being inclusive,” before going on to falsely state that “it’s not just cis-gender women that can get pregnant and give birth.”
The attempt to completely rewrite age-old language was mocked by some Republicans, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) referring to it as “stupid,” and Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) posting his own Mother’s Day message that jokingly depicted a graphic with the word “Mother’s” crudely crossed out and replaced with “Birthing People’s.”
