Doctor Strange Edited Out of Disney’s ‘WandaVision’ Because He’s White

A cameo by Doctor Strange was cut out of Disney+ series “WandaVision” finale because he was a “white guy” saving the day, according to reports.

Marvel chief Kevin Feige confirmed in an interview for the May 2021 print edition of Rolling Stone that Benedict Cumberbatch was scheduled to pop up as Doctor Strange in the show’s closing episode but that those plans were changed.

“Some people might say, ‘Oh, it would’ve been so cool to see Doctor Strange,’” Marvel chief Kevin Feige told the magazine. The comments were noted by Cnet.com in a piece published Monday, The Daily Caller reports.

“But it would have taken away from Wanda. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie — here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works,'” Feige explained.

“Marvel had even finalized a deal with Cumberbatch to appear in the season’s final episode,” He continued.

Elizabeth Olsen as “Scarlet Witch” a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff is set to take on a starring role in Marvel’s “Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” due out in March 2022.

The Insider reported some fans were left disappointed by the absence of Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, however the two will team up in the upcoming “Doctor Strange” sequel “Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.”
