Kamala Harris Book Given to Migrant Kids

EDITOR’S NOTE: The original story has been amended since it was originally published.

On Monday, the White House could not say whether Vice President Kamala Harris would profit from her book, which was included in welcome packets given to migrant children, Breitbart reports.

“I’d have to certainly check on that,” Psaki said during the White House press briefing. “Hear it’s a good book.”

The New York Post  published photos of Harris’s 2019 children’s book Superheroes Are Everywhere in welcome packages for migrant children arriving in California.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Psaki why the book was being included in welcome packets and whether she was profiting as a result.

“I’d have to check with our Health and Human Services team,” Psaki said, unable to offer a response.

According to the report “if copies of Harris’s books are purchased for migrants, rather than donated, Harris could be profiting off of the migrant crisis.”

There has been no response on record from White House officials questions about the book but they have privately told reporters that Harris was not aware of the practice.

A White House official told Newsweek that it’s part of a city donation effort to collect books and toys. According to their report “the effort is organized by the community, working with companies.”

Republican majority leader Kevin McCarthy voiced his frustration about the lack of clarity from the White House on social media.

“This should be a straight yes or no answer from the White House: are taxpayers paying for copies of the Vice President’s book to be handed out at migrant shelters?” he asked.
