VP Harris Laughs When Asked About Plans to Visit Southern Border

Vice President Kamala Harris started laughing when asked Monday if she would be visiting the border where a humanitarian and security crisis is unfolding as tens of thousands of Central American migrants have crossed in recent weeks, The New York Post reported.

‘Do you have any plans to visit the border?’ a reporter asked, while on the tarmac in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Not today,” responded Harris, before laughing. “But I have before, and I’m sure I will again.”

Harris, who formerly represented California as a senator, was shown on a video posted to social media during a Monday visit to Jacksonville, Fla., to promote the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, according to The New York Post.

According to Fox News, the Biden administration has refused to call  the situation at the border a “crisis.” White House press secretary Jen Psaki during a Monday press conference, referred to the border situation as a “circumstance” and children escaping from persecution in their home countries “is not a crisis.”

President Biden when asked on Sunday, said that he will be making the trip ‘at some point’ despite previously saying he had no plans to visit the border.
