GOP Freshmen Stand Up to ‘Surrender Caucus’

If you needed a reminder that the swamp is alive and well, look no further than the recent vote by the House Republican Conference to bring pork-barrel spending back to Congress. Egged on, no doubt, by the special interests that fund their campaigns, 102 Republicans—who identify as conservatives when campaigning—just decided to undo one of the biggest accomplishments of the Tea Party era. Now, Senate Republicans are similarly considering a proposal to follow suit.

If this isn’t a sign that Congressional Republicans need new leadership in Washington, I don’t know what is. The good news is that a new group of freshman Republicans who are taking Washington by storm may yet return fiscal sanity to their conference. Unlike D.C. swamp elites who care only about their interests and investments, these bold new leaders promise to serve as the conscience of a caucus that is adrift and hell-bent to normalize the deviancy of Democrats.

Representatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) represent the true spirit of the American people. They have also shown that they are willing to stand up and fight to stop out-of-control government spending even if it means ruffling feathers in the “surrender caucus.”

When the pork-laden $1.9 trillion so-called COVID relief bill was rammed through to the floor of the House of Representatives, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene led the fight to block this massive legislative expansion of government. More than half the funds appropriated in the bill—over $1 trillion—have nothing to do with the pandemic. Instead, these funds represent an expansion of progressive wish list programs, and substantiate other unrelated policy changes that do little to counteract the economic turmoil caused by draconian government lockdowns.

By throwing up procedural roadblocks, and calling for a vote on the “motion to proceed,” Representative Greene was able to rally 149 Republicans to slow down a process that many believe was rushed to prevent the American people from realizing what was actually in the bill. Greene has shown that not all Republicans are willing to go along with the big government agenda of the Democratic Party.

As Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) attempt to ram through other multitrillion-dollar programs such as green infrastructure funding and an expansion of socialized government-run healthcare, we can hope Green’s actions will give them pause and remind them that they have not cowed all Republicans, yet.

The next few years will be critical for the future of the United States as Progressives, led by the likes of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and the “Squad” work to undermine everything our country was built on. Toeing the Republican Party line and engaging in Washington double-speak will not be enough to stop this assault on our democracy. We need to get behind bold new leaders such as Greene, Cawthorn, Van Duyne and Boebert who are not afraid to speak plainly and call out the swamp when it rears its ugly head.

The biased press fears these new Republican leaders, who are plainspoken like President Trump, because they disrupt the self-serving status quo of the majority of Washington.

Big Tech platforms increasingly censor conservative voices and mainstream fake news outlets spin narratives and publish patently false stories in an attempt to discredit these patriots in the same way they tried to discredit President Trump. Look no further than the Washington Post copping to a completely fabricated story about a conversation between President Trump and election officials in Georgia. It is clear, to even the most casual observer, how the media elites are attempting to stack the deck against bold conservative voices, in an effort to silence them.

America is in the midst of rapid tilt toward socialism. It’s breathtaking to see how comprehensively, courtesy of government schools and an obedient press, traditional American values are shunned and unfairly disparaged.

This lurch to the Left will continue unabated unless courageous new leaders speak out. Fortunately, despite the best efforts of the mainstream media and progressive Democrats, it appears that they will not be able to cancel these freshman conservatives. And if these stalwarts can stand against totalitarian forces in defense of our blessed land, shouldn’t we also?
