Washington Football Team, Formerly Known as ‘Redskins,’ to Ditch Cheerleaders for ‘Coed Dance Squad’

In the latest dramatic effort for the Washington D.C.-based football team to appease political correctness, the team announced that they would be eliminating their cheerleading squad, in favor of a “coed dance squad,” as reported by the Daily Caller.

Despite having been a staple of the team for over 50 years, the team’s senior adviser Petra Pope confirmed in an interview that the all-female team will be replaced by a team featuring both women and men in order to become “more inclusive.”

“We are going to invite a coed entity to audition,” she confirmed, adding that “the inclusivity, strength, and interest of choreography has changed.”

The change comes as the far-left continues pushing to eliminate women-only elements of sports and athleticism, with “transgender” activists demanding inclusion in women’s sports and activities even though they are biological males. Such a significant change would become federal law if the “Equality Act,” backed by Democrats in Congress, is passed by both houses and signed into law by Joe Biden.

The Washington-area football team had previously come under criticism for its long-standing name, the Washington Redskins, with their mascot being a Native American caricature. After repeated baseless claims that the name was “racist,” the team dropped the name in 2020 in the wake of the Black Lives Matter riots that burned multiple cities and killed dozens of Americans across the country last year. The new name, the Washington Football Team, has been the subject of widespread ridicule due to its bland and generic nature.
