Associated Press Refuses to Capitalize ‘White’ While Still Capitalizing ‘Black’

The Associated Press confirmed that while they will continue to capitalize the word “black” when in reference to African-Americans, they will not capitalize the word “white” in the same context, as reported by the Daily Caller.

The AP explained their decision in a statement posted as both an article and a Twitter thread, addressing the growing calls for them to give equal treatment to the use of the word White after the Left had increasingly been calling for black to be capitalized.

In their statement, the AP claimed that they would continue to capitalize black because “people who are black have strong historical and cultural commonalities, even if they are from different parts of the world,” and that supposedly among these similarities is “the shared experience of discrimination due solely to the color of one’s skin.”

The AP then falsely claimed that “White people generally do not share the same history and culture, or the experience of being discriminated against because of skin color.”

The AP’s vice president for standards, John Daniszewski, falsely claimed that capitalizing the term White “is done by white supremacists,” and that as such, capitalizing the word might “subtly convey legitimacy to such beliefs.” He then made the racist statement that “White people’s skin color plays into systemic inequalities and injustices.”

AP is one of many major publications to have caved to the Left’s pressure in agreeing to start capitalizing the word “black.” Others that have followed suit include the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and NBC News.
