Morning Greatness: More Corporations Want Free Speech Crackdown, Join Facebook Boycott

Good Monday morning.

Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:

Corporations boycott Facebook to force “hate speech” crack down

The list of corporations refusing to advertise on Facebook is growing. Why? Because they want Facebook to crack down on “hate speech.” Starbucks is the newest member to join the shakedown.

The coffee chain joins big brands including Coca-Cola, Unilever, Hershey, Honda, Eddie Bauer, The North Face, Levi’s, Ben & Jerry’s and Verizon in taking various steps.

Much of the activity stems from the #StopHateForProfit campaign, which includes the NAACP,  Anti-Defamation League, Sleeping Giants, Color of Change, Free Press and Common Sense.

According to USA Today:

Facebook’s policies surrounding divisive posts have been scrutinized after the platform left published a post from President Donald Trump following protests over the death of George Floyd. In the post, Trump said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

Zuckerberg has defended leaving the post untouched, saying Facebook should allow for as much free expression as possible. A similar post published to Twitter carried a warning the tweet was “glorifying violence.”

“I’m optimistic that we can make progress on public health and racial justice while maintaining our democratic traditions around free expression and voting,” wrote Zuckerberg Friday. “I’m committed to making sure Facebook is a force for good on this journey.”

Zuckerberg is cracking. The Facebook honcho said posts that violate the website’s policy will remain on the platform, but get a label slapped on them. “People can agree or disagree on where we should draw the line, but I hope they understand our overall philosophy is that it is better to have this discussion out in the open, especially when the stakes are so high,” Zuckerberg said earlier this month.

Will the Biden campaign and other Democrats also pull their advertising? If not, why not?

Expect Zuckerberg to totally cave on this.

Trump retweets a video where someone yells “white power”

President Trump retweeted a video of a protest at “The Villages,” a planned retirement community in Florida. There were dueling political rallys among these seniors and things got quite heated. You can watch the video at Mediaite. Breitbart describes the kurfuffle as “a clash between protesters at The Villages in Florida in which a man taunted pro-Trump demonstrators as Ku Klux Klan members, and another man shouted ‘White Power!’ in reply.”

Was he serious? I don’t know, he seemed to laugh when he said it. But who cares because it’s time to GET OUTRAGED! The media went bananas because obviously, Trump retweeted the video because of the dude screamed “white power.” Because Trump is all about white power.

As the video begins, a man — evidently an anti-Trump protester — shouts, “Where’s your white hood?” at a pro-Trump motorcade driving by in golf carts. The man continues taunting: “Racist! Racist!”

In reply, the driver of the lead golf cart shouts: “Yeah, you got it. White Power!”

Trump deleted his retweet.
