Congressional Republicans Demand Pelosi Stop Distribution of Chinese Propaganda Paper

Five Republican members of the House of Representatives have signed a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) demanding that she put a stop to the distribution of a Chinese propaganda paper on Capitol Hill, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

The demand was spearheaded by Congressman Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who has also alerted the Department of Justice to the fact that China Daily, an outlet owned by the Chinese government, has been distributed to the Capitol every single day. In his letter to Pelosi, Banks challenged her to take the “opportunity for you to prove to voters the Democratic Party also takes the China threat seriously.”

China Daily has been spreading its propaganda across America since at least 1983, and in recent months has spread fake news about the coronavirus outbreak, which originated in China, and has also tried to take advantage of racial divisions and violence in the United States in the midst of the Black Lives Matter riots.

The Chinese government, run by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has come under heavy global scrutiny following the coronavirus outbreak. The CCP deliberately covered up the virus’s existence and lethality early on, first allowing it to spread like wildfire among its own citizens. Through its close and questionable ties to the leadership of the World Health Organization, the CCP convinced the WHO to falsely declare to the world in January that there was no evidence that the virus was contagious. As a result, heavy travel restrictions and sanctions have been placed on China, and the United States has withdrawn from the WHO under President Donald Trump’s orders.
