Good Monday morning.
Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:
- The president has lunch with the Vice President
- President Trump participates in a roundtable on Fighting for America’s Seniors
It’s back baby: Coronavirus returns after social justice riots/protest hiatus
Were you confused by the public gatherings of thousands and thousands of people after having been scolded by “public health officials” for months about staying locked up and away from work and fun? Yeah, me too. I didn’t hear a peep out of Dr. Anthony Fauci or other respected virus nannies and media jesters telling these protesters and rioters they were going to KILL GRANDMA. (I did hear that I should cut off Grandma if she won’t donate to Black Lives Matter…) I didn’t hear about a dangerous SECOND WAVE or how we need to FLATTEN THE CURVE. No, sir, I did not hear about that as I watched thousands of people standing close together day after day, yelling (what about the OMGVIRUSDROPLETS) at police or law enforcement officers.
Welp, now that President Trump plans on campaigning and holding rallies the virus has become a public threat once more! Only yesterday, thousands of people gathered, ignoring social distancing guidelines to demand Black Trans Lives Matter, without deadly health consequences, while ominous warnings were featured about President Trump’s planned Tulsa campaign rally.
No public service announcements, no high profile media appearances during the weeks long protests. But now, the virus is back, baby!
Who better than the despicable Scott Gottlieb, friend of Big Pharma paychecks, to bring us back to reality: “I would certainly counsel against it,” Gottlieb said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “If I was giving advice to the administration on this, I would say they should withhold large political rallies right now. They also need to lead by example, and so encouraging people to social distance, encouraging people to wear masks, that’s what we should be engaging in right now.”
Over in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the director of Tulsa’s Health Department “wishes” Trump would reschedule his rally.
“I think it’s an honor for Tulsa to have a sitting president want to come and visit our community, but not during a pandemic,” said Director Bruce Dart in an interview with the Tulsa World on Saturday.
“I’m concerned about our ability to protect anyone who attends a large, indoor event, and I’m also concerned about our ability to ensure the president stays safe as well.”
“COVID is here in Tulsa, it is transmitting very efficiently,” Dart told the outlet. “I wish we could postpone this to a time when the virus isn’t as large a concern as it is today.” Say, was it a big risk last week or no?
