CNN’s Chris Cuomo Touts Pravda-Like Video of Himself ‘Emerging From his Basement’ After Quarantine

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo on Monday proudly promoted a video of himself “emerging from his basement” after his three week quarantine— even though he was spotted well outside of his basement over a week ago.

“All right, here it is … the official re-entry from the basement, cleared by the CDC,” Cuomo said as he ascended the stairs. The anchor—clad in a hoodie partially covering a tee-shirt baring the word “truth”—said that he had just finished working out.

“This is what I’ve been dreaming of literally for weeks. This is the dream, just to be back here, doing normal things,” he declared as he entered the living room of his $2.9 million Southampton home where he joined his wife, Cristina, and kids, Carolina and Mario. The short video was shot by his 17-year-old daughter, Bella, according to Page Six.

“My wife. She was cleared by the CDC,” Cuomo said triumphantly. “She doesn’t have fever. She doesn’t have the symptoms anymore.”

The CNN anchor announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus on March 31. In Suffolk County, people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are required to stay at home “all the time, during the period you are quarantined.”

However, less than two weeks later, while he  was supposed to be under strict quarantine, he reportedly decided to check on a property he owns in East Hampton.

As the NY Post’s Maureen Callahan noted, it was an undeveloped property and construction had been halted.

“There was literally no reason for Chris Cuomo to be there,” wrote Callahan. Moreover, he had not yet been “cleared by the CDC” to be out of quarantine.

A 65-year-old East Hampton resident who was out riding his bike, happened to spot Cuomo and his family in front of the property on Easter Sunday, and questioned him about it.

The resident—identified only as “David—said he stopped and sat on his bike “well over a hundred feet” from the property.

“I just looked and said, ‘Is that Chris Cuomo? Isn’t he supposed to be quarantined?’”

Cuomo had recently said on the air that he was suffering from a low-grade fever and was worried that his wife was showing signs of the virus.

David told the Post that the anchor was outraged by his curiosity. “He said, ‘Who the hell are you?! I can do what I want!’ He just ranted, screaming, ‘I’ll find out who you are!’”

He continued: “I said to him, ‘Your brother is the coronavirus czar, and you’re not even following his rules — unnecessary travel.’ He just began to boil more.”

David told the post that he reported the incident to the East Hampton police the next day because he felt threatened.

“He said, ‘This is not the end of this. You’ll deal with this later. We will meet again.’ If that’s not a threat, I don’t know what is,” the resident explained. “I hate bullies.”

The next day on his SiriusXM show, Cuomo blasted the “loser biker” who confronted him on Easter Sunday for being outside his property with his family despite his coronavirus diagnosis.

“I don’t want some jackass, loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls–t to me, I don’t want to hear it,” he seethed. Cuomo went on to complain that as a public figure, he doesn’t have the freedom to tell annoying strangers to “go to hell.”

“I want to be able to tell you to go to hell, to shut your mouth … I don’t get that doing what I do for a living,” he ranted.

During Monday night’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” the CNN anchor said his wife “has proven again that she is the stronger part of the couple” after she “powered through” her battle with COVID-19 herself.

“She’s out of quarantine, and she dealt with it in a fraction of the time. So we are among the blessed,” Cuomo said on his show.

On Twitter, Tuesday, the Post’s Karol Markowicz  blasted CNN’s Pravda-like coverage of Cuomo’s reemergence from quarantine.

“You guys are Pravda,” she fumed. “This is so absurd I don’t know how he did it, and then Stelter passed it along, with a straight face.”

Markowicz explained on Twitter why she was so “incensed” by CNN and Cuomo’s phony coronavirus “theater.”

“People have died from this and he’s blatantly breaking quarantine and then putting on this show as if he hadn’t,” she tweeted.

“On April 16, the day after Governor Cuomo was on Chris’s show to give him a pass about passing COVID-19 on to his wife Christina, he extended NY’s PAUSE for another month,” Markowicz added. “His brother is literally driving around and being outside with other people *WHILE ACTUALLY HAVING COVID.*”

But Cuomo told CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta Monday night that his illness had put him into a “depression.”

“I have never had anything like this in my life. It humbled me,” Cuomo said. “I know people are dealing with so much worse, but for me, personally, I’m not that strong, and it really tore me up inside and out in terms of making me reassess things about myself and my life.”
