Morning Greatness: Dr. Birx Delivers Smackdown to Chinese Virus Fear-Peddlers

And now a message from Dr. Deborah Birx, physician, diplomat, coronavirus task force coordinator, colonel and scarfmaster

Yesterday, Dr. Deborah Birx tried to clear up the media-generated hysteria promulgated through SHOCK headlines and stories by explaining, “When people start talking about 20 percent of a population getting infected, it is very scary but we don’t have data that matches that based on the experience,” Birx said.

“There’s no … reality on the ground where we can see that 60 to 70 percent of Americans are going to get infected in the next eight to 12 weeks,” Birx later continued.

The Hill reports Birx pointed out “that 19 of the 50 U.S. states are showing a persistently low level of coronavirus cases despite reporting early infections. These 19 states each have fewer than 200 cases, Birx said, and are still working to actively contain the virus rather than mitigate its spread.”

The doctor also addressed the hysteria surrounding the ventilators:

Birx also said that federal officials were assured in a meeting with New York state officials that they have unused ICU beds and between 1,000 and 2,000 ventilators that haven’t been used. She reacted negatively to press reports about hospitals contemplating do-not-resuscitate orders, suggesting such talk would spark unnecessary fear among Americans.

“There is no situation in the United States right now that warrants that kind of discussion,” Birx said. “We don’t have any evidence of that right now.”

What a pity that the American public cannot trust information filtered through the media.

President Trump isn’t buying into Cuomo’s ventilator hysteria, “I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” he said. “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You go into major hospitals sometimes, and they’ll have two ventilators. And now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?’” Governor Cuomo announced that he needed 30,000 ventilators, dramatically telling the public, “You pick the 26,000 people who are going to die because you only sent 400 ventilators.”

And Dr. Birx also addressed this in the task force press conference. “There is still significant — over a thousand or two thousand ventilators that have not been utilized yet,” Birx said. “Please, for the reassurance of people around the world, to wake up this morning and look at people talking about creating DNR situations — do not resuscitate situations for patients — there is no situation in the United States right now that warrants that kind of discussion.“

House to vote on $2T relief package

Democrats do not think the $2T relief package will pass with a voice vote so elected officials are scrambling to get back to D.C.

The wild card is Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). One objection is all it takes to require the elected scoundrels to high-tail it back to Washington D.C. and do their job.

“Mr. Hoyer and Mr. McCarthy previously expected that the vote on H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, would be done by voice vote, but there is now a possibility that a House Republican may suggest a quorum is not present and attempt to call for a recorded vote on final passage,” sources in Hoyer’s press shop said.

“We have notified our Members of the possibility that the bill may not pass by voice vote. The Majority Leader’s Office has sent a notice to Members that if they are able and willing to be in Washington, DC by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, they are encouraged to do so, while exercising all due caution.”

Massie tweeted out yesterday, “The senate did some voodoo just like with Obamacare. Took a House Bill (HR 748) dealing with taxes, stripped every word, and put their bill in it. The House is just as responsible for killing the origination clause as the Senate. It’s the House’s job to reject the process,” Massie tweeted.
