China Threatens to Use EMP Attacks Against American Ships in South China Sea

Chinese state-run media recently released a story in which numerous “experts” discussed the possibility of China using an EMP weapon to deter American ships from entering the South China Sea, as reported by Breitbart.

The statements were made in The Global Times, a state-run media outlet, where “Chinese military experts” said that “the Chinese military has the option of using new approaches, including the deployment of electromagnetic weapons,” in order to “counter US’ repeated trespasses into Chinese territorial waters.”

The story comes as the Communist government of China is attempting damage control over its mishandling of the coronavirus, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan and rapidly spread to the rest of the world. After the government attempted to suppress information about the disease, including from doctors who warned of its contagiousness and lethality, Beijing has since made the false claim that the virus first came to Wuhan from the United States.

China had also been dealing with its own internal unrest prior to the outbreak of the virus, most noticeably from the protests in Hong Kong, where mostly student demonstrators demanded democracy and more transparency from the government, only to be met with violent force by state police.
