More Immigrants Deported Thanks to Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy

The Trump Administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy has proven a massive success, seeing thousands of illegal aliens either flown back to Guatemala or deported as a result, as The Washington Post reports.

In Texas, the policy saw at least 100 illegals being deported every single day, according to the Post. The new policy requires that aliens seeking asylum in the United States must first wait in the first “safe” country that they reach during their immigration, whether it be Guatemala or Mexico. As a result, many aliens are ultimately returning to their home country rather than wait for their asylum application process to finish.

Acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan has confirmed that the new policy has successfully closed “loopholes in our legal framework,” and along with the end of the “catch and release” policy, has ensured that the vast majority of illegals captured in the U.S. are swiftly deported, while a majority of asylum claims are unsuccessful.

The group of migrants, many of them fleeing violence in their home countries, last took a rest day on Wednesday and has resumed their journey towards the United States border. As fatigue from the heat, distance and poor sanitary conditions has set in, the numbers of people participating in the trek has slowly dwindled but a significant group are still determined to get to the United States. President Donald Trump said Wednesday as many as 15,000 troops may be deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border in an effort to prevent members of the migrant caravan from illegally entering the country.
