Michael Bloomberg Criticizes ‘Transgenders’ in 2019 Comments

More comments have emerged by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (D-N.Y.) that are likely to create problems for him in the Democratic primary, this time targeting “transgender” Americans, as The Daily Caller reports.

The comments are from March 2019, where Bloomberg criticized the Democratic Party’s shifting further to the left on social issues such as the LGBTQ community, saying that “if your conversation during a presidential election is about some guy wearing a dress, and whether he, she, or it can go to the locker room with their daughter, that’s not a winning formula for most people.”

Bloomberg further added that this and other issues constituted proof that the Democrats are “focusing on a lot of things that have little relevance to people who are trying to live in a world that is changing because of technology and communications and things like that.”

In response to the newly-unearthed comments, a spokesman for the Bloomberg campaign claimed that Bloomberg now “understands that the transgender community has been under attack for decades,” and that he is running to “reverse the many policies [Donald Trump] has implemented that attack the rights of the transgender community.”
