With the notable exception of Senator Kyrsten Sinema, the Democrat Socialists on Capitol Hill seem to have no idea that their petulant and disrespectful behavior turns off average American voters—including longtime Democrats.
Democrat lawmakers appear to have made the mistake of believing that the hard-core leftists on political Twitter and other social media represent all Democrat voters, and have adjusted their stances accordingly.
But C-SPAN’s call lines following President Trump’s masterful State of the Union address Tuesday night, tell a starkly different story.
Throughout Trump’s entire speech, Democrat representatives and senators refused to applaud, even going so far as to boo and heckle the president. [It should be noted that a member of Congress was formally chastened by the House in September of 2009, for calling out “you lie” during then-president Obama’s deceitful joint session of Congress speech promoting ObamaCare legislation.]
President Trump gave a ten-year-old girl from Philadelphia an opportunity scholarship, which would allow her to leave her bad school district in favor of a superior public or private school. Democrats were clearly offended by the idea of this bright fourth grader gaining the chance to attain a better education. Regardless of one’s thoughts on school choice, a young girl’s future being brightened by access to improved education is a good thing.
Under Trump’s economic policies, unemployment has reached its lowest rate in 50 years. Further, unemployment levels have reached record lows for black Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, women, military veterans, disabled people, and young people. In the address, Trump praised the opportunity zones that brought tax credits for investments in poorer communities, a policy created by Sen. Tim Scott. With the exception of Sinema, no Democrat deigned to applaud for dropped unemployment.
There were at least a couple of unseemly outbursts during President Trump’s SOTU address, but there is precisely zero chance that anyone will be even mildly reprimanded after their own Speaker disgracefully tore up copies of the speech. [Here, she can be seen testing the thickness of the stacks of paper early on, apparently to see if she could tear them up efficiently].
C-SPAN featured caller after caller—Republican, Democrat, and Independent—expressing their disgust with the Democrats, with some even vowing to never vote Democrat again.
“It’s outrageous they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country and they looked like they hated our country. It’s outrageous and I will never vote Democrat again,” said one caller.
“I am a Democrat as well, but no longer will I vote Democrat,” a woman from California said. “I think it’s outrageous that they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country, and they looked like they hated our country,” the woman added. She went on to tell the C-SPAN host that she found Pelosi’s antics “outrageous” and reiterated that she would never vote Democrat again. “My whole family feels the same way,” she declared. “It appears to us that our Democratic party’s been stolen from us by a bunch of Communists.
“I am literally disgusted with Pelosi and the Democrats,” a woman from Washington said. “The way she teared up the speech behind him at the end. I was a registered Democrats. I’ve gone Independent, I’m leaning GOP now,” the woman said.
“With the simple rip of the paper, Nancy Pelosi has pretty much sealed the deal of the reelection of Donald Trump,” said a man from Pennsylvania.
