Iowa Senator Joni Ernst Calls Out Democrats’ Ukraine Hypocrisy

Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) accused Congressional Democrats of hypocrisy over their claims that President Trump withheld aid from Ukraine, Fox News reports.

The junior senator from Iowa took to Twitter to criticize the Democrats, saying that “the Democratic House Managers’ hypocrisy is on full display: They’ve spent most of their time lecturing the Senate on aid to Ukraine, yet four of them voted AGAINST legislation that provided the very same aid they’re lecturing us on.”

Senator Ernst also commented on how, in comparison to the Obama Administration’s aid to Ukraine consisting of “sending blankets,” the Trump Administration actively provided the nation with military aid to repel the Russian invasion into the country.

Her comments are in response to one of the core tenets of the Democrats’ impeachment case against President Trump; the unsubstantiated allegation that President Trump withheld $400 million in aid from the Ukraine as leverage to pressure their government to investigate the corruption of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, who had shady business dealings in the Ukraine while his father was in office.
