Morning Greatness: Senators Held Hostage as Impeachment Trial Begins

Good Tuesday morning.

Here’s what’s on the president’s agenda today:

  • The president delivers opening remarks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland
  • President Trump participates in a pull-aside meeting with the Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum
  • The president participates in a reception with the International Business Council
  • President Trump participates in a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Commission
  • The president participates in a bilateral meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation
  • President Trump participates in a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  • The president participates in a dinner with Global Chief Executive Officers

And so it begins

Today, the Senate will begin the impeachment trial of President Trump. It will start at 1pmET if you want to watch. Senate Majority Leader Cocaine Mitch will outline the rules for the trial. The hearings are projected to be 12-hours long and six days a week. Each side will get 24 hours (2 days) for their opening arguments. I love that the Senators are hostages. They have to sit there and drink their Ensure milkshakes. The Senators can’t say anything or get up and leave. They can’t even use their cell phones. How many will fall asleep? Will they bring in magazines? Crossword puzzles? Doodle? They even won’t be able to grandstand and pose for the camera. What a well-deserved nightmare for them!

It’s certainly sad for the presidential candidates who will be removed from the campaign trail right before Iowa, isn’t it? I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.

McConnell wants to finish this performance in two weeks. The Los Angeles Times doesn’t like this:

The proposed accelerated schedule infuriated Democrats, who saw it as a partisan effort to short-circuit a fair trial and to block Americans from following the historic proceedings.

What about the House Democrats’ fast-forwarded, star chamber impeachment process? I can’t imagine a better description of the House fiasco.

After the opening arguments, the Senators will have 16 hours to submit questions that will be asked by Chief Justice Obamacare Tax to the lawyers for the House Democrats and the White House. There will be four hours for debate and then a vote for witnesses.

The Trump defense has added some House members to the defense team: Congressman Doug Collins, Congressman Mike Johnson, Congressman Jim Jordan, Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, Congressman Mark Meadows, Congressman John Ratcliffe, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, and Congressman Lee Zeldin.

One question that looms over the Senate is whether there will be witnesses. The Democrats want witnesses to testify in the Senate that the House couldn’t be bothered to call because they were in a hurry to impeach the president for anything. As you know, conflicts between the executive and legislative branch are often mitigated by the judicial branch. But who has time for court when you want to be able to say you’ve impeached the president? Stay tuned and get comfortable, it’s going to be a very long week.

WHITE SUPREMACISTS 2A supporters peacefully rally in Virginia capitol, media hardest hit

On Monday, supporters of the Second Amendment rallied in the state capitol of Virginia for the right to keep and bear arms. The media hyped and scaremongered about violence and Virginia’s Governor Democrat Blackface encouraged public hysteria by claiming there was evidence the event would turn violent and declared a state of emergency so he could disarm the protestors. All premeditated lies. Can you think of any left-wing group protest that the media fearmongers and concern trolls about violence? No, you can’t. In fact, the media embargoes stories about groups that have a history of violence at their events and pretends the violence didn’t happen after attendees are beaten and attacked with chemicals.

MSNBC advertised the event as a white supremacist rally. “Thousands of gun rights activists, white nationalists, militia groups all swarming the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond,” a “reporter” said Monday as a video showed aerial footage of the event. You can see some pictures from the rally from an attendee, where are all the white supremacists?

President Trump had a message on Monday: “The Democrat Party in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia are working hard to take away your 2nd Amendment rights. This is just the beginning. Don’t let it happen, VOTE REPUBLICAN in 2020!” If there is a better example than the Virginia gun control bonanza of what happens when Democrats get power, I can’t think of it.
