Alphabet, the parent company of the search engine giant Google and all of its subsidiaries, has just reached a value of $1 trillion in the American stock market, CNN reports.
This makes Alphabet one of only three American companies to be worth over $1 trillion, the others being Apple and Microsoft at $1.4 and $1.3 trillion, respectively. All three companies fall short of the most valuable company on the planet, the oil company Saudi Aramco, which is valued at $1.8 trillion.
Shares of Alphabet have already increased in value by 8% in the first 17 days of 2020 alone. The significant increase in Alphabet and most other stocks is widely attributed to economic optimism following the signing of a new trade deal between the United States and China, as well as Congress passing the USMCA trade deal, the replacement of the NAFTA.
