Florida Man Who Spat on ‘MAGA’ Hat-Wearing Bar Patron Gets 90 Days in Jail

A Florida man has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and one year of supervised probation for spitting on an elderly Trump supporter wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat at a bar, according to Fox News.

Matthias Ajple, 43, entered a no-contest plea to a battery charge on Thursday and Judge David Morgan found Ajple guilty of battery in Indian River County court.

Surveillance footage showed Ajple place what appears to be a paper towel on the head of 67-year-old Robert Youngblood, who was sitting with two friends, and was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat at a bar in Vero Beach on Oct.26. Ajple then slapped the bill of the hat before telling him to “go back to Russia, you f— communist,” investigators said.

Ajple then spat on Youngblood and left the bar, according to an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.

The perpetrator allegedly told arresting officers: “I was just trying to protect you guys because I support law enforcement. Trump supporters are communist and racist.”

“I don’t even care that I’m going to jail; this is actually exciting,” he said. “Plus, I have more time on this earth than he does anyway; he probably feels so good about himself.”

Ajple must also pay a $155 to Youngblood, pay for all necessary court costs and avoid contact with him, according to the sentencing document. However, Ajple may need to cough up more cash for his victim. Youngblood has filed a civil suit against Ajple seeking damages in excess of $15,000, The Smoking Gun reported.
