Democrats in the state of Virginia are objecting to housing zoning that favors suburban family lifestyles, accusing them of being “racist,” as The Daily Caller reports.
To this end, Democrats in the state have proposed several resolutions aimed at installing more “affordable housing” and “multi-family housing” in suburban neighborhoods, in a process called “upzoning,” in order to bring more low-income individuals into said neighborhoods.
The efforts would also include stricter environmental standards that some Democrats claim are not being upheld by current housing standards.
Similar regulations have already been passed in Oregon, as well as large cities such as Minneapolis, Austin, and Seattle.
