Las Vegas Outlaws Homeless Camping on Downtown Streets

The city of Las Vegas has outlawed homeless camping and sleeping on its downtown streets, despite left-wing protests against it, according to USA Today.

Despite leftist protesters surrounding and entering city hall during the vote – including with violent chants such as “eat the rich” – the city council voted 5-2 to approve the ban. The measure does not apply to the world-famous Las Vegas strip, but does affect the downtown and urban areas.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman (D-N.V.) voiced her support for the ban, calling it “flawed but a start,” and saying that such a ban on vagrancy was necessary to uphold the city’s image as an attractive tourist destination.

During the public comment section of the meeting, far-left activists voiced their opposition to the ban, including additional calls for violence. One man had to be removed from the city council chamber by the police for shouting “death to the bourgeoisie.”

In addition to the far-left, several Democratic presidential candidates took a stand against the ban as well, including former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.), former HUD Secretary Julian Castro (D-Texas), and billionaire Tom Steyer (D-Calif.).
