Leftist Activists Want to Ban Honors Classes for ‘White Toxicity’

Leftist education activists in numerous states are pushing for an elimination of honors classes altogether, claiming that such programs are racist, according to the Daily Caller.

According to the comprehensive report, these movements are occurring in mostly Democratic states, including Washington, New York, Maryland, Minnesota, and Virginia. Their efforts range from proposing a new “math ethnic studies” for K-12 students in Washington to eliminating the ability of “gifted and talented schools” in New York to screen potential students based on their test scores and attendance records.

In other states such as Minnesota and Virginia, the school systems have gone out of their way to create official positions focused on “equality,” from Virginia’s “Chief Equity Officer” to Minnesota’s “equity audit.”

Such proposals have faced significant pushback from parents, including one member of Minnesota’s “Parents for D112 schools,” who said that a white girl came home from school, and “cried and said I wish I wasn’t white after she was exposed to this ‘equity’ stuff.” There was similar pushback in New York even from left-wing minority figures, such as David Lee of the “Chinese American Citizens Alliance,” and black city councilman Robert Cornegy.
