Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have uncovered nearly 300 instances of illegal aliens lying about their alleged “family” status in some capacity in the El Paso area, according to The Daily Caller.
The two agencies discovered 238 separate groups of aliens all identifying as family units, as well as another 50 adults “falsely claiming to be minors.” These discoveries are a result of the Family Fraud Initiative that was launched in April for the purpose of identifying such false claims of family status in order to be granted asylum.
In addition, the FFI identified “a massive child smuggling operation run by transnational criminal organizations,” wherein biological parents would hand over their children to unrelated illegals so that they could pose as a family.
In a statement, ICE spokesman Jack Stanton declared that “Border Patrol will continue to protect children from being smuggled, as well as aggressively target, identify, and stop criminal organizations from generating false documents and exploiting innocent children.”
