A vegan activist in Spain claims to have been attacked by farmers after she broke into their rabbit farm to free the animals, the New York Post reports.
The activist in question, who goes by the online alias “Mythical Mia,” is based in Barcelona, according to the Post. In a video posted to Instagram, she says “This is what the farmers have done, they shot through our window and chased us down the motorway,” adding “I’m documenting the whole thing” and “I’m literally covered in blood.”
In the video, she can be seen in her car with a few small drops of blood on her clothes and some blood on her cheek, although the blood on her face does not appear to be coming from any kind of wound. She then shows some broken glass on the seat next to her. She did not post any evidence of being chased or the original act of breaking-and-entering that led to the alleged dispute, nor do any other activists and their alleged injuries appear in the video.
In the post’s caption, she says that she and a few other activists “entered a rabbit farm and rescued 16” rabbits, admitting to breaking in and trying to steal the farmers’ property. At that point, she claims without evidence that “the farmer was extremely aggressive and attacked us, strangling activists and smashing their heads with metal poles.”
After the police were called and made the activists leave, she further claims that “the farmers chased us down a motorway at 200 km for an hour,” again without evidence. She says that eventually the farmers “blocked us into a dead end and surround[ed] the car with 5 other farmers’ cars,” and eventually started “banging on the windows, shouting and threatening us.” She said that the situation finally came to an end when the police were called again, and “escorted us to a safe place.”
Later in the post, she calls the rabbit farm a “hell hole,” and also calls the farmers “evil.”
