Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci has taken another big step in his new war with his former boss.
The former Trump Administration official, who served for only 11 days, has been in talks with prominent anti-Trump political operative Bill Kristol to discuss possible ways to remove Trump from the 2020 GOP ticket, according to CNBC. Scaramucci has gone on the offense against President Trump in recent days, referring to him as “crazy” and “narcissistic,” and claiming that he has “alienated everyone in the White House.”
As per the report, “asked whether he has spoken to Scaramucci about trying to find another presidential candidate to replace Trump on the top of the GOP ticket next year, Kristol said: ‘Yep.’”
The unusual alliance between the veteran NeverTrumper and the former White House communications director is the latest development in Kristol’s war against the president. As CNBC reported last year, Kristol has been actively “building a political war machine” to set up potential primary challengers for President Trump. However, most of Kristol’s top picks—including former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, and former Ohio Governor John Kasich—have ruled out such a bid.
The president has dismissed Scaramucci’s latest attacks on Twitter, referring to Scaramucci as “a highly unstable ‘nut job,’” who “made a fool of himself” during his short-lived tenure in the White House.
