Harrison Floyd, a black Republican running for Congress in Georgia has some Democrats very, very concerned that he has murderous designs on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT).
Georgia GOP candidate appears to threaten Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders in video, fretted the New York Post.
A campaign video from Republican Harrison Floyd shows images of the progressive darlings, then a clip of himself firing a rifle in a combat setting, while he says in a voiceover: “I’ll fight socialists in Congress the same way I fought terrorists in the desert.”
“I’m running for Congress because my family and I didn’t fight for our freedoms to allow our country to fall to socialism,” Floyd, a Marine veteran, says at the start of the vid.
Carolyn Bourdeaux, a Democratic candidate for Georgia’s seventh congressional district, decried the video.
“Violence has absolutely no place in our public discourse & I denounce this abhorrent video in the strongest possible terms,” she tweeted. “This message doesn’t represent GA values & for Harrison Floyd to enter this race by inciting violence is wrong.”
Notice the use of weasel word “appears.” As you can see in the video below, he “appeared” to do nothing of the sort.

For most people, that is a solid conservative campaign message from a patriot pledging to fight against the rising tide of socialism in America.
Yet his campaign opponent called on Floyd, a fourth generation member of the U.S. military, to take down the scary, awful video.

A couple of other lefty sites followed the New York Post’s lead, reporting that the candidate threatened or “seemed to threaten” socialists AOC and Bernie Sanders in the video.

The line that has the literal left’s panties in a bunch is: “I’ll fight Socialists in Congress the same way I fought terrorists in the desert.” Because apparently, it’s plausible to them that the former Marine wants to hunt down socialists in the halls of Congress with a military assault rifle or something.
The liberal site “Now This” added subtitles and their own images to the video in an attempt to make the ad seem ominous.

The Blaze’s Caleb Howe suspects that the opposing campaign fed New York Post reporter Shant Shahrigian the story and that is entirely possible.
What makes this the most outrageous is how pro forma it is. Shahrigian was almost certainly fed the story by the campaign. I’ve been writing about politics for a decade and a half. Believe me, they sent this story around. And the Post article is practically cookie-cutter. His quote, her quote, link to death threats, file that puppy and get back to tweeting about Pinterest and Whole Foods or whatever is the latest millennial dystopian nightmare.
If that is the case, their attempt to smear Floyd is backfiring in a big way because there are now more media voices defending Floyd than attacking him, including Red State, the Blaze, Yid With Lid and Western Journal. And on Twitter, the tweets by the New York Post and “Now This” are getting swamped by Twitter users mocking their idiotic, hyper-literal interpretation of the ad and some of them are pledging to donate to his campaign.
