Here is what President Trump’s lawyer is talking about.
In a bombshell story published late last week, John Solomon of The Hill reported that representatives of President Obama’s Justice Department, FBI, National Security Council, and State Department met with Ukrainian officials in January 2016 and began developing the phony Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
The Obama Administration had a cozy relationship with the then Ukraine government, which was formed after a coup d’état to oust the democratically elected pro-Putin leader, Viktor Yanukovych.
Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) flew to Kiev in December 2013 to rile up a crowd of protestors in the midst of the coup, in support of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy, which favored regime change.
Soon after, Vice President Joe Biden became liaison to Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), and his son, Hunter, was made a board member of Burisma Holdings, a top Ukrainian energy company.
Solomon reported, “More than $3 million flowed from Ukraine to an American firm tied to Hunter Biden in 2014-15, bank records show.”
A prosecutor in Ukraine began to investigate corruption at Burisma Holdings. In March 2016, Vice President Biden leveraged billions of dollars in foreign aid to get the investigation shut down and the prosecutor fired.
Also in March 2016, the Clinton campaign lost its emails in a phishing scheme. Campaign chairman John Podesta fell for a ruse to disclose to an unknown entity that his email password was, well, “PASSWORD.”
The emails showed the Clinton campaign working with the Democratic National Committee to fix the primaries against Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
A short time later, as the DNC scrambled to formulate an explanation for the impending leak of the emails, its servers were suspiciously hit with a malware attack.
The hackers left what appear to be deliberate and amateurish Russian signatures. As one American computer security expert has noted after reviewing the available evidence:
The PHP malware sample they have provided appears to be P.A.S. version 3.1.0 which is commonly available and the website that claims to have authored it says they are Ukrainian. It is also several versions behind the most current version of P.A.S which is 4.1.1b. One might reasonably expect Russian intelligence operatives to develop their own tools or at least use current malicious tools from outside sources.
Incredibly, the DNC did not provide its allegedly hacked servers to the FBI for inspection. That task was left to CrowdStrike, a private contractor paid by the DNC.
CrowdStrike concluded not only that Putin was responsible for the malware attack, but also that he must have been behind the earlier phishing scheme—even though no direct evidence connects the two.
FBI Director James Comey confirmed in testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee in January 2017, “We’d always prefer to have access hands-on ourselves if that’s possible,” but that the DNC had rebuffed the FBI’s request to inspect the servers.
Comey added that the DNC’s hand-picked investigator, CrowdStrike, is “a highly respected private company.”
Either that, or the fix was in.
To repeat some points I have made previously, CrowdStrike’s chief technology officer and co-founder, Dmitri Alperovitch, is a Russian expat and a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think tank with an anti-Putin agenda.
The Atlantic Council is funded by Ukrainian Billionaire Victor Pinchuk, a $10 million donor to the Clinton Foundation, with additional millions promised.
On December 22, 2016, CrowdStrike caused an international stir when it claimed to have uncovered evidence that Russians hacked into a Ukrainian artillery computer app to help pro-Russian separatists.
The Voice of America later determined the claim was false, and CrowdStrike retracted its finding. Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense was forced to eat crow and admit that the hacking never happened.
In other words, at the same time this “highly respected private company” was blaming the Russians for hacking the DNC computers, it was raising a false Russian flag on behalf of the government of Ukraine in its war with separatists.
A reputable group of former intelligence officials, the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), has been critical of CrowdStrike’s work, based on its own forensic analysis.
John Solomon also reported that Ukraine had a highly ranked insider at the Justice Department to whom it fed anti-Trump dirt.
In emails Fusion GPS’s Nellie Ohr sent to her husband Bruce Ohr, Ukrainian officials informed the FBI of a “black ledger” registering off-the-book payments to Paul Manafort, who resigned from the Trump campaign over the disclosure.
Fusion GPS is the same firm that hired former British spy Christopher Steele to assemble a dossier about Trump’s connections to Russia.
Steele does not have a friendly relationship with Russia’s government or access to its spy agencies’ kompromat. His professional life has been spent besmirching Russia, most notably over its successful World Cup bid.
A logical conclusion is that the Steele dossier, like Nellie Ohr’s report about Manafort, was based on information provided by Ukrainians that was passed to the FBI by the Clinton Campaign’s opposition research contractor, Fusion GPS.
Many of the indisputable facts outlined above have been known for years, but the media has so far declined to investigate them.
Way back on January 11, 2017, Politico published an article headlined “Ukrainian Efforts to Sabotage Trump Backfire,” reporting that Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American operative, started working to associate Trump with Russia in late 2015.
“The Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race,” Politico noted, “helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia.”
The media, unfortunately, did not continue digging. Now Rudy Giuliani is asking why. Maybe it’s because they don’t really want to know.
