Ex-Clinton Aide Leading ‘Dark Money’ Campaign to Get Kavanaugh Fired from Summer Teaching Job

Hillary Clinton’s former campaign spokesperson Brian Fallon is backing a student-run effort to get Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh fired from his teaching job at George Mason University. Kavanaugh is scheduled to teach a summer course at the university’s overseas law school in the United Kingdom, according to Fox News, and student activists are crying foul.

A petition launched last month by a student group called “Mason For Survivors,” urges the university to “terminate AND void ALL contracts and affiliation with Brett Kavanaugh at George Mason University” on the grounds that the justice was accused of sexual misconduct.

Demand Justice, a left-wing “dark money” group run by Fallon, is running a Facebook ad campaign urging students at the university to sign the petition.

In addition to its call for Kavanaugh to be fired, the group lists several other demands in its petition at change.org:

Release any and all documents including but not limited to: emails, donor agreements, and contracts related to the hiring of Brett Kavanaugh as faculty at George Mason University.

Hold a Town Hall to discuss Kavanaugh’s hiring and implications for students and the university by April 25th 2019 and hold a public comment section, and inform students through their MasonLive email, one time (at the least) that said public comment section is taking place.

A formal apology from administration to survivors.

Mason For Survivors is also demanding changes in the school’s policies regarding  Title IX and outside donors, as well as “better resources for student survivors of sexual assault,” and “Campus Police Reform.”

So far, the petition has attracted over 5,500 signatures.

Fallon’s group is also paying for Facebook ads urging people to sign a separate petition urging Democrats in Congress to investigate Kavanaugh. Demand Justice is among over two dozen left-wing groups demanding an new Democrat-led investigation.

As Fox News’s Gillian Turner notes in the video below, “summertime academic assignments have become a standard pass-time for Supreme Court justices,” so Kavanaugh’s teaching position at George Mason is nothing out of the ordinary.

But Fallon defended the ads in a news release, saying that Kavanaugh “has been credibly accused of sexual assault by multiple women whose allegations have not been thoroughly investigated.”

“His confirmation to the Supreme Court does not absolve him of guilt, and he should not be given a platform to teach,” said Fallon. “We stand with survivors and urge the George Mason University administration to fire Kavanaugh.”

So far, the university is standing firm, saying Kavanaugh’s role will make the law program “uniquely valuable for our students.”

“I respect the views of people who disagreed with Justice Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation due to questions raised about his sexual conduct in high school. But he was confirmed and is now a sitting justice,” said the university’s president, Angel Cabrera. “The law school has determined that the involvement of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice contributes to making our law program uniquely valuable for our students. And I accept their judgement.”

Demand Justice, according to Open Secrets, “operates as an unincorporated entity organized by a tax-exempt fiscal sponsor.”

That sponsor is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit named Sixteen Thirty Fund, which provides a legal home and steers money from secret donors to more than 40 different unincorporated entities that are consequently not required to file separate tax returns or other incorporation documents.

This further obscures the spending of entities like Demand Justice that fall under the umbrella of a fiscal sponsor, allowing them to essentially operate with no a paper trail.

In April of 2018, Fallon spoke at the Democracy Alliance’s secretive four-day conference in Atlanta.  Democracy Alliance, according to Influence Watch, is a network of left-wing donors such as George Soros.
