Although the Mueller Report is done and has cleared President Trump of charges of collusion and obstruction of justice, all the facts in the world will not stop the Left and the NeverTrump collective from questioning  that conclusion. So desirous were they of yet another promised “bombshell” that their reactions of utter disbelief have been both absurd and funny.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” NeverTrump impresario and splenetic tweeter Bill Kristol had this to say:

I defended Robert Mueller for a year and a half against really reckless demagogic attacks from the president. And I think pretty reckless attacks from the president’s enablers. And I am going to continue to protect him. I’m happy to live with whatever the report says. We owe him a debt and his team a debt, and the people in the Justice Department who rejected all the efforts by this president to impede and perhaps end this investigation.

First, Trump is not a demagogue. Second, as hard as Kristol and others tried to wish it so, the president never did a thing to impede Mueller’s investigation. Criticism is not obstruction.

Yet, in an interview with White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s “Today Show” had the gall to demand the president apologize to Mueller. Rachel Maddow of MSNBC was on the verge of tears when news emerged last week that Mueller’s investigation was over and he would seek no further indictments. David Brooks in the New York Times offered his pseudo-conservative centrist thoughts. Although he called for an apology tour from people like Beto O’Rourke, Brooks couldn’t neglect to meet the Left halfway and also call on “Republicans and the Sean Hannity-style Trumpians” to engage in “self-examination” and have “humility.”

This is most certainly not real or objective journalism, but the fact that the so called mainstream media is acting like this is old news. We are used to this. We know they are essentially corporate leftist tools.

As soon as the results of the 2016 election came out, the Left was insisting that Trump was elected illegitimately. (“Not my president,” and all of that.) This mindset has continued to drive most of the media calling for Trump’s removal from the office. It has been two years of constant hounding and attack because they are incapable of accepting that the American people elected Trump. They cannot comprehend that most of America disagrees with globalist and leftist ideologies.

Denial of truth and reality is a hallmark of the Left but also of any ideology, no matter which side of the political spectrum it comes from. Ideology can take root and multiply in many different ways but it is mostly visible and easily utilized in politics. This pairing immediately creates a fateful contradiction because politics, in its essence, is supposed to be a practice of citizenship and freedom.

The late political scientist Kenneth Minogue understood this well. In his brilliant work on the history and analysis of ideology, Alien Powers: The Pure Theory of Ideology, Minogue argued “ideology is incompatible with the activity of politics” for two reasons. First, “the doctrine of ideology assumes that mankind is enslaved,” and second, “politics presupposes the possibility of an equal contribution of wisdom from each citizen, while ideology argues that this is impossible.” Leftist ideology is riddled with many contradictions, and most of today’s journalism has entered into that phase and form of communication.

For all the talk of progress and the requisite insistence that every form of thought (other than their own) is wrong, it is the ideologues who remain in a “purely static condition.” All of the reactions by the mainstream media to the Mueller report have been rooted in this kind of thinking, or lack of thinking. The intent is not simply to destroy Trump but even more intently, to destroy what he represents.

Under the guise of morality, ideologues, or as Minogue calls them, “ideologists,” “deny the reality of moral life.” At the same time, “while affirming freedom, it envisages a community in which only one right type of act will be even conceivable. It attacks inequalities, yet aims at the destruction of the only entities—individuals—which could in any serious sense be taken as equal. It affirms the real democracy, but envisages unanimity which would make democracy unnecessary. It claims the rubric of criticism only to declare its own truths incontestable.”

It is a Sisyphean task to have an intelligent conversation with a person who possesses the qualities Minogue writes about. And yet, this is what we are dealing with every time we try to analyze the latest lie of the corporate left-wing media, the latest purposeful misreporting, the latest attempt at upsetting the order of things, and eliminating other voices from the public square. They are the actual threat to true liberal democracy. Through their predatory and vampiric ways, they feed the beast of leftism with perpetual dissatisfaction, insatiability, and an attempted coercion of free minds.

As William F. Buckley, Jr. famously said: “Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.” Today, not only are they aghast at the different points of view, they are also actively spreading lies to undermine them.

Yes, the Muller probe has reached its conclusion. But the leftist and NeverTrump ideologues will never stop, and it is essential to keep up the fight against the purveyors and distributors of disorder. Now more than ever, it’s vital to affirm the principles of the republic and the value of liberal democracy in which every citizen’s voice matters.
