Required reading from around the web of the best, most interesting, or most though provoking things we’ve read:

Hayward: The Vindication of Clarence Thomas—and the Left’s Freakout

“I’m gaining weight and running out of popcorn watching the left freak out about the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy. But beyond just the theatrics of the left’s primal screams and desperation tactics it is delightful to see the left begin to reckon with something more fundamental going on, which in one sentence I’ll assert is the growing vindication of the constitutional originalism of Justice Clarence Thomas. […] Thomas waged a quiet war of ideas against twentieth century liberalism — and he won the hearts of a legion of conservative law students. Many of those former students are now old enough to be judges. As of this writing, fully 20 percent of the judges Donald Trump appointed to the federal appellate bench are former Thomas clerks.”

Lord: The First Fake Media-Induced Mental Illness

“While “Trump Anxiety Disorder” (a term originally coined by psychologist Jennifer Panning) and Trump Derangement Syndrome are real, they have been deceivingly misnamed.  These mental illnesses have absolutely nothing to do with our 45th president and everything to do with our partisan media, who are ruthlessly and unethically trying to take down our duly elected commander in chief. Greenfield: When the Mueller Gang Met Judge Ellis

“Paul Manafort. Tony Podesta. Tad Devine. Greg Craig. Manafort worked for Trump. Tony Podesta is the brother of Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager. Tad Devine was Bernie Sanders’ chief strategist. Greg Craig was Obama’s White House Counsel. All four men also, directly or indirectly, allegedly did work for the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine. And the ECFMU was allegedly a front for Yanukovich’s Ukrainian pro-Russian faction. Manafort and the Podesta Group had failed to register as foreign agents. Tad Devine had worked for Manafort on the Ukraine project. Craig had written a report on Ukraine for one of Manafort’s lobbying efforts. But only Manafort had the predawn raid, the solitary confinement and the high profile show trial. […] Podesta, Devine and Craig are getting a pass because it’s not really about Manafort. It’s about Trump.  […]  Until now, the Mueller coup had gotten exactly the judges that it wanted. […] But now Judge T. Ellis is presiding over the Manafort trial and the free ride is over.”
