Barbarians at the Gate

Who ya gonna believe, the lyin’ media or your own eyes?

That isn’t a trick question. If you’ve paid any attention to the Gaza Arabs rioting on Israel’s border, you would have heard that they were participating in peaceful protests. But your own eyes know peaceful when they see it. And what you’re seeing is anything but peaceful.

Watching the Hamas-incited chaos in Gaza won’t remind anyone of Martin Luther King’s March on Washington. And it’s not likely you’ll be hearing any of the terrorists give the Arabic version of the “I Have a Dream” speech.

So it’s not a peaceful protest, and it’s not even a riot. Riots can be pretty bad. Think Ferguson and Baltimore. But Gaza has the look and feel of a prison break in a war zone. With no stores to loot, burning tires, firing assault weapons, and hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails is the order of the day.

Somehow, the delusional Blame Israel First media types and U.N. flunkies see it differently. They pretend to avert their lyin’ eyes from the violence and devastation orchestrated by Hamas.

Nikki Haley at the United Nations wasn’t having any of this. She explained the modus operandi of Hamas and the Gaza citizens they recruit.

“They light Molotov cocktails attached to kites on fire and attempt to fly them into Israel to cause as much destruction as possible,” she said.

Keep in mind, the border between Israel and Gaza is not in dispute. This border goes back to the 1949 armistice that ended Israel’s war of independence. It hasn’t changed.

What has changed are Hamas’ terror tactics. Failing to destroy Israel by launching hundreds of rockets at Israel’s cities, Hamas organized these shenanigans, hoping to breach Israel’s border fence. Kidnapping and killing soldiers and ordinary citizens would be the ultimate achievement, even more rewarding than getting a shot at those 72 virgins.

For Gaza citizens, this was all a great adventure. “We are excited to storm and get inside,” said a young Gazan, Mohammed Mansoura.

And what would Mohammed do once he got into Israel? “Whatever is possible, to kill, throw stones.” he said.

It turns out that almost all of those killed the last few days were Hamas operatives. But the others who died are not without fault. Like Mohammed, they weren’t there to hand out flowers. If the IDF was a less capable force, these “everyday people” would have transformed into invaders and murderous marauders.

Sad but true. The barbarians are at the gate.

If you can’t see that, get your lyin’ eyes over to an optometrist ASAP.
