The Ruling Class Hates You

I thought love trumps hate. That’s what I’ve been led to believe by an effusion of t-shirts, bumper stickers, and social media postings from the self-styled anti-Trump Resistance™. As my friend Roger Kimball likes to say, there really is nothing like the intoxication of moral superiority.

The syrupy slogans promulgated by the ruling class, ruling class wannabes, and fellow travelers on the Left aren’t fooling anyone, not even, I would guess, the people who say, wear, and post them. Truth is, they really don’t like the rest of us. No problem, we have our own lives and families. But it’s only not a problem until such disdain is combined with a sense of political entitlement and the coercive power of government.

Which brings us to the political and cultural union of the Democratic Party and the permanent political class called the deep state, that forms the unelected, unaccountable fourth branch of government that wields so much power up to and including the police power of the FBI.

In private texts recently made public, FBI “super-agent” Peter Strzok and his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, were quite candid. Their open disdain for a wide variety for groups including Italians, Russians, Romanians, gypsies, Virginians, Texans, and pro-lifers should surprise no one. The leaders of their party have been saying the same thing in public for years.

Here is one telling exchange between the star-crossed lovers:

“Guccifer. Sleazy Romanian…,” Strzok wrote.

“They ALL are,” Page responded.

“Funny to watch and think of [redacted]. No wonder he’s a brusque as he is…and those Romanians aren’t even the gypsies…” Strzok shot back.

“Seriously, I kind of hate them. (I’m sure [redacted] fine). But they have the crookedness of the Russians with the entitledness of the Italians. Yuck,” Page answered.

In a separate exchange, Page goes after Russians—all of them—again: “…hate them. l think they’re probably the worst. Very little I find redeeming about this. Even in history. Couple of good writers and artists I guess.”

“Probably the worst?” Even worse than those entitled Italians and sleazy Romanians? I guess that means no Tchaikovsky or Rimsky-Korsakov on her playlist.

But it’s not just foreigners. It turns out, they’re not terribly fond of Americans either. Virginians and Texans come in for particular scorn because, well, you know, it’s always open season on rural America and the South. Virginia and Texas must seem like a twofer.

When Jill McCabe (D-Va.), wife of former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, lost a race for the Virginia state senate after taking nearly $700,000 from the Clintons and their allies, Strzok let loose on his neighbors and countrymen.“Disappointing, but look at the district map,” he texted.“Loudoun is being gentrified, but it’s still largely ignorant hillbillys (sic). Good for her for running, but curious if she’s energized or never again.”

I’d guess that the “ignorant” voters of Loudoun County probably realize that the slur he was reaching for is spelled “hillbillies” and not “hillbillys.” Strzok can remember it in the future because it’s the same construction used in other words, like “adulteries” and “felonies.”

He had a few words for the Lone Star State too. “And while i (sic) hate Trump, part of me thought (redacted) would not/may not get into (redacted) because they’re white and not from buttf*ck Texas…”

How about the hundreds of thousands of people from all parts of the country and all walks of life attending the annual March for Life? Page isn’t a fan of them either: “I truly hate these people. No support for the woman who actually has to spend the rest of her life rearing this child, but we are about ‘life.’ Assholes.”

In Page’s world, “life” comes with scare quotes and consists of adultery with a co-worker, leaking classified information to the press, using federal police power to rig presidential elections, and spewing venom at virtually everyone outside of her social and professional circle. What a life.

Maybe Page and Strzok are outliers. Maybe they were just venting private frustrations with a lover. Maybe. But the public statements of the leaders of their own party, the people they admire, who Page called the “very impressive” (the Obamas) and the woman who deserves to win “100,000,000-0” (Clinton) are even worse.

The Strzoks and Pages, the Clintons and Obamas have all made it abundantly clear that they don’t like the America they see around them. They don’t like where it came from or the people who live here. The ruling class makes no secret of it: they hate you.

In 2008, Barack Obama derided people from rural America: “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chief, John Podesta was part of a thread of anti-Catholic emails with activist Sanford Newman: “There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic church.”

And, of course, there was Hillary’s open contempt for the Deplorables.

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

If that’s not enough, compare the slogans of the Left to their candid public and private statements.

The Rhetoric

Love trumps hate.
Hope and change.
“Hate is not a family value.”
Tolerance.
Diversity
Coexist

The Reality

Sleazy
Entitled
“Buttf*** Texas”
Hillbillies
Bitter clingers
Deplorables
Irredeemable

The sense of entitlement and open disdain of this country’s counterfeit elites is dangerous. Early in the Obama Administration, it led to weaponizing the IRS against political rivals. That manifest wrong was never punished and it emboldened ruling class Democrats in the FBI to lie to the FISA court so they could spy on the Trump campaign for the benefit of Hillary Clinton.

The unfolding political corruption is just the public manifestation of a deeper social and political crisis that strikes at the heart of our ability to maintain a system of constitutional self-government. George Washington addressed his countrymen as “friends and citizens” in his Farewell Address. The ruling class doesn’t want that. They don’t want citizens, much less friends. They want subjects.

Of course they hate us. the language they use is just for manipulation and control. You are a racist! You are a homophobe or transphobe or something! You hate the dreamers and foreigners. But of course, you must foot the bill, be compliant sheep as we destroy your lives. You are solyant green, that’s all. Your beliefs, feelings, way of life, fruits of your earnings are irrelevant. They hate and will not stop hating no matter what. They hate this country, they hate life, and they hate us. There is already war. they just got caught this time. Let’s see if it sticks, and if the USA actually exists other than in the figment of our collective imaginations.

Really? “The Jews”? Don’t be ignorant. Religion has nothing to do with what’s happening in this country. Israel is one of our closest allies, but it is under attack from progressives who prefer Palestinians because they are “brown and less privileged.” Jewish men in America are now seen as white males and are subject to the same negative identity politics as others. It is only a matter of time before they abandon the Dem party that hates them (but loves their money).

Christ preached forgiveness of ones enemies and peace making. This was blasphemy to the Jews so they killed him. Christ died because he refused to make you and every other non-Jew a slave to the Jews. And to this very day, every last Jew on earth hates him for it. And you defend his killers, Mr white Christian?? Why?? Because you want to be a slave to the Jews??

Jews didn’t object as the Left destroyed America. They only objected as the Left became anti-Israel. Although, truly speaking, Dems are still pro-Israel: they don’t oppose billions in aid or neocon wars. It’s the grassroots support that’s in decline due to Israel’s policies toward Palestinians, That’s why jews are now trying to co-opt the Right.

As for “religion”, ever heard of “atheist Jews”? Being Jewish is more than “religion”. There’s even a DNA test for immigration to Israel. Besides Ashkenazim typically have 20-30% European admixture, are “White” due to being mostly Asiatic infused with some Mongolian and there are about 200 genetic diseases unique to Jews.

They would arrive in a new place, set up their tents, sell their talents to make things, or set up a business that sold staples for the people around Flour Live stock, whatever would help them to survive. I can’t believe you’re as stupid as you make yourself appear. News flash: We don’t elect Presidents based on popular vote. If we did Trump would have campaigned differently. Your slimy candidates whined about this in 2000. They had sixteen years to legally do something about it. There’s a reason the founding Fathers used the Electoral College rather than the popular vote. The 2016 election proved, once again, they were right. Try to keep up. Hillary won by 2.9 million votes. She won California by 4.3 million votes. That means Trump beat her in 49 states and D.C. by 1.4 million votes.
Why would America want to be governed by one of the most irresponsible and far left state in America?
You also show how ignorant you are by disparaging Neanderthals. Back in their day, you wouldn’t have lasted a week.
Again, thinking Mueller is going to make a report is laughable. After huma’s laptop was made public, with 600K emails on it, Criminal Comey cleared hillary and huma in two weeks. After eighteen months, Mueller has nothing and as more facts come out, it is clear that he, Comey, Rosenstein, McCabe, and others we’re involved in an attempted coup. Heads will roll and people will go to jail but it won’t be Trump or any of his people. Flynn is already calling for his conviction to be overturned and it looks likely to happen.
Anti-Trumpians soil themselves because their hate for Trump is so transparent. You’re like some dung beetle under a rock compared to a Colossus, like Trump.

You’re obviously a “pajama boy”, if you’re offended by braggadocio. Get some depends and put on your big boy pants. Did you support the effete anti-American obama? Perhaps the GOPe losers, McCain, Romney, Jeb, Rubio, and Kasich. They rolled over and played dead rather than stand up to the tyranny of the PC.

The anti-Trumpians like to misrepresent what Trump says by pretending it’s literal.

Trump can’t build the Wall it if the unibrow party refuses to fund it. But if they do, Mexico will pay for it.
        Let me count the ways

We have a $63 billion trade deficit with Mexico. Renegotiating NAFTA will reduce that.

Illegal and legal Mexicans send $50 billion in remittances to Mexico, every year. That their number one component to their GDP, surpassing their oil revenue. Taxing that would generate another billion, at least.

Seventy percent of illegals receive some sort of taxpayer funded support. Deporting them will recover more billions. In the past, legal and illegal immigrants were expected to work and contribute to our Country. Heads of household would come here establish themselves and then bring the rest of their family over. When President Reagan bestowed amnesty on three million illegals, they didn’t go on welfare. Today, we do it bassackwards. We allow unaccompanied illegal children to come over, establish themselves on welfare, and then let chain migration work its magic and further burden our taxpayers. If you were an actual history buff, you would know this.

Deporting illegals will put many of the 95 million Americans who are out of the job market back to work. That means less welfare costs and more tax revenue. More revenue to build the Wall.

It’s not that you didn’t understand what our President was saying, but you hate Trump more than you love our Country and so go out of your way to misrepresent what he says. Today Trump has a higher favorability rating than obama did in the same time frame. That’s with obama getting 90% positive press while Trump gets 90% negative. The American people like what Trump is saying and doing, especially on fixing our broken immigration program.

        • Phredd
          Phredd says:

I’m on board with most of what you are saying, but I have a few quibbles about immigration. I married my wife in mainland China in 2007. A spouse of a citizen is in the “immediate” category, so it took only a year for me to get her to the U.S. as a Lawful Permanent Resident. She spoke almost no English, but she was intent on becoming and AMERICAN, so she studied her tail off and in 2011 was eligible for and passed the test to become a naturalized citizen. We have since gotten her adult daughter here with us as an LPR. The point is I have been through this immigration thing a few times.

First you should note that most LAWFUL immigrants are, shall we say, less than enthused about illegals. Also, my wife and daughter are proud of their Chinese cultural heritage (we put up lanterns for Chinese New Year and the Moon Festival), but they don’t parade around with Chinese flags; they are happy and GRATEFUL to be here.

Chain migration should be changed, and definitely more emphasis should be put on merit-based immigration. Both already exist in the system, and the balance between the two should be shifted, but “chain migration” is not quite the same as what is popularly perceived. Look up “Visa Bulletin” on the Internet. First, you will note that each “preference category” has a statutory limit on the total number of immigrant visas each year. Next, note that except for one special case, one must be a citizen to sponsor an immigrant, and it takes a new immigrant at least five years to become a citizen (three years if the spouse of a citizen). Now note the waiting list (before the case is even processed) times in the table. The last time I looked, the waiting time for sponsoring a sibling was 14 years, unless of course the sibling is from China, India, Mexico, or the Philippines. For the Philippines it’s 24 years. Finally, when you sponsor an immigrant, you have to sign and file an “Affidavit of Support” to prove you can support the immigrant. If that immigrant goes on welfare, YOU are on the hook to repay the government.

So, I would not completely eliminate “family” immigration, but I would make certain changes. It is one thing to bring in parents, siblings, and their offspring. It is quite another thing to allow those parents to later petition for THEIR siblings, and so on. I would eliminate that. (Of course my perspective is affected by the fact that the total number that would allow is not very large when the immigrants are from China. Due to the “one child policy”, the immediate Chinese family is not large.) I would also, as mentioned above, reduce the statutory number of immigrant visas in the family preference categories and move to a system where the majority of visas are in the skilled immigrant category. The diversity lottery definitely needs to go.

Of course, I’m just a dope who did everything according to the law. A big problem is the “exceptions” and “emergencies”, courtesy of certain political figures.

You did things the right way, like we use to do. In earlier times, it was the bread winner who came to America and established himself before trying to get his family over. Once here he provided for them.
Just as you did with your Wife. The American taxpayers weren’t expected to do the providing. And your Wife wanting to acclimate and believing in the American Dream is no longer the norm.

Some tend to forget that in former times, we decided who should come and it was to make our Country better. Today many believe everyone has a right to be here and that virtual signalling is our primary goal.

Thanks, pal. I appreciate your kind comments. My grandmother was born in Minneapolis, but her parents were immigrants. They were Slovak, and they later lived in the McKinley Hill area of Tacoma, WA . My grandmother told me that when she was young, McKinley Hill seemed to be half Slovak and half Swedish. Whenever one or the other had a wedding or other celebration, they invited their friends from the other group. The Swedes and the Slovaks each had their own cultural heritage, but shared it with the other, probably because of their shared identity as Americans. That’s the kind of view I still have, and I think it’s generally the view of the immigrants that have the patience and determination to jump through all the hoops to come here legally.

The elites are the RINO-cRAT-Media establishment with its incestuous relationship with the unelected 4th branch of the government which we are finding is mired in corruption very likely traceable directly to Obama and Clinton and McCain. Trump is a billionaire; however he is not of the elite. He speaks directly and minus political correctness exactly like the American people. By contrast the elite speaks in PC, lofty , holier than thou tones designed to stifle debate and consolidate their own power. The business model of the elite is to encourage ignorance and economic dependence. This is why it creates sanctuary states for illegal impoverished immigrants. If he were “superior to all others” he wouldn’t be working 24/7 for the American people risking his fortune to battle the endemic corruption. He loves America. As for mass transit.. which is more convenient, having access to dirty, crowded buses and subways, or having access to your own, personal, transportation? I have noticed that the Left does not like to plan for themselves.. they would rather let the system determine their shopping schedule, for instance, based on the neccasary bus routes, rather than undertake the work required to own and operate their own vehicle. That is their choice, but it is not an example of “greater convenience”, it is, actually, quite the opposite. My Australian friend and myself had a brief debate on the state of the Home improvement sector of their society. We have a merit-based immigration policy that is even stricter than what Trump has been proposing for the U.S. Our government sends representatives to U.S. enclaves of illegal aliens to tell them not to come to . I live in Toronto which in its way is a very fine city but I wouldn’t call it great. I’ve spent many years in Chicago and Boston as well as a good deal of time in New York and San Francisco and though they all have their problems they are just marvellous. Torontonians flock to New York for the art, theater, restaurants etc. I love Canada but don’t love the fact that recently our Liberal federal government passed a law that made it mandatory to call transgender people by their preferred pronoun of which there are now about 50 and counting or you can be fined or jailed. I am against it and will never obey it regardless of the consequences. I suggest you stop sh””ting on your own country and try to make it as good a place as it can be.

It was by design, and they are still at it, in spades. What the heck do you expect; that people will roll over and knuckle under. Now, it is being substantiated they are willing to use the police powers of the Federal behemoth to sustain their will-to-power agenda ignoring the Constitution and the Consent of the Governed. I would say the instincts of Traditional America to hate these usurpers is quite justified. You reap what you sew.

The superdelegates stole the nomination from Hillary and gave it to Obama because they preferred his coalition to Hillary’s coalition of “racist” white working class. Then in 2016 Hillary embraced Mook and the Obama coalition while turning her back on the people that supported her in record numbers in 2008…the rest is history!

Disagree. When a majority of people in the country, whether you view them as liberals are not, vote for policies that you view as “socialist” or “unconstitutional”, whether they are or not, your view becomes that you as a minority are simply entitled to reverse or override them without any need to seek compromise. We’ve seen this with a number of things recently, including Obamacare repeal and tax cuts for the already wealthy, neither of which were supported by a broad majority of the public including, seemingly, a significant proportion of those who voted for Mr. Trump.

  38. Kevin Blankinship
    Kevin Blankinship says:

Let’s deconstruct Buskirk’s reasoning. First the term ‘ruling class.’ Buskirk takes aim at gentry liberals, but ignores the major business owners, corporate shareholders, and their army of executives and business-people. I’ve known a good many executives in my industry, and most of them consider themselves the object of society. This is not to distract from the academic elite, but there is a corporate elite that is richer than they, outranks them, and even funds them.

The so-called ‘deep state’ is as much an entity on the right as on the left. Buskirk may allude to the Brookings Institution, but the Republicans have the Hoover Institution, the American Enterprise Institute, the Cato Institute, the Manhattan Institute, and a tier of lesser think-tanks from which Republican administrations draw their top apparatchiks.

Buskirk invents an alleged contempt of foreigners on the part of the left, while ignoring the documented complaints by Trump and his base against foreigners.

Buskirk reads things into what people say that aren’t there. His paragraph about what Obama said does not back up his claim that the former president derided the people of the Rust Belt. Obama’s comments sound more like an expression of sympathy, and at the worst perhaps, misunderstanding.

Not to defend Hillary, but Sarah Palin as the Republican VP nominee made a host of racist and xenophobic remarks, and her following ate it up. Again, the evidence is there.

Buskirk is a second-rate political hack who thinks that his insensible ravings constitute learned commentary.
